Re: DOES NOT PRINT IN BLACK
This may sound a bit dumb, but believe me as a tech support specialist, I have seen it happen. If you are trying to print a document, what color do you have set for text? I had a lady who wanted the text to be white on blue on the screen in Word and instead of setting it with a blue background and "auto" text, she set the text as white. White print on a white background (paper) doesn't show up...:-)
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hi, it could be few things wich you having problem with.
First, how old are the ink tanks, it could be clodged. Second the print head nozzles are clodged at that places. Third, the purge unit does not work OK.
First remove all inks out and remove print head. Then on wet cloth, wet it with distiled water, few times press the bottom of print head ( nozzles ), then the 4 circles must change from colour to white. That means that nozzles are cleaned. Dry head by pressing it on dry cloth.
Put it in, also the inks, and run few times the deep head cleaning. Every time take a look at print pattern. If the head is to badlly clodged, test pattern would be just a little bit more better.
But now you know if the problem is in head or something else ( purge unit or inks ). The new head isnt so cheap regarding the printer so then the best solution would be to buy new printer. If you do not want to buy laser colour printer, atleast buy one on wich ink tanks has printhead on. Its slightly costly, but you have one worry less - the print head is changed every time you change the ink.
Do you mean the large black ink as in the 3e vs. the 6? If so, the large black, 3e, is a pigment based ink and the printer should only use it when print text and black and white things. The 6 black is a dye based ink and the printer should only use it when printing photos.
The large black ink cartridge is used for printing text and other general black printing. The small black cartridge is used when printing graphics and other fine details. Each cartridge feeds to a different part of the print head, which is used for different purposes.
I had a similar problem. I put in a new ink tank but did not seat it properly. When I tried to print nothing came out. Worse yet, apparently it burned out those jets in the print head! A new print head fixed my problem. I got it on eBay and am very satisfied.
I had removed and reinstalled the empty 3e cartridge. Sorry for the Confusion. I hadn't put a new 3e cartrige in until today. Them I ran " deep clean" twice. The printer works fine. I still don't understand why the printer wouldn't print color, when I was had set the printer to print in color when my 3e cartridge was empty and all colors including the 6 black showed full.
Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry this ain't a solution but it seems to be the only cash-free way to contact you. No problem not solved - though I have tried everything. Dismantled the printer; washed, dried and replaced the waste ink pads; washed the print head; blew compressed air through the print-head sponge; replaced the cartridge 3 times; printed hundreds of test prints. I can't think of anything else to do and so I think the only solution is to replace the printhead (probably not even available) or replace the printer. The latter is looking most likely.
