Ps3, says the hard disc,s file is corrupted an will be restored, try restorein it the same message cums back on the screen????

A possible fix to your problem is to hold the power button as you turn it on. This will allow you to restore the factory default settings, and should let you into the menu so you can reformat your hard disc.

Playstation 3 screen says " cannot start, the correct hard disk was not found." after turned on. will do nothing else. any ideas?

A long shot but it sounds like your hard drive has basically "switched off". If you have a USB sata hard drive dock I can help but its a bit of a complicated process. You need to remove the hard drive from the PS3 and plug it into the USB sata dock then connect it to your computer. Goto Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Managment. Look in the lower area of the screen that appears for your PS3 drive, probably E:, and look if it says "Not initialized". If it does, right click where it says that then click Initialize Disk. Put it back in your PS3 when it is done and hopefully it will turn back on. You will lose all saved data though as the hard drive will need to be formatted.

Hope this helps

Hard disks file is corrupted

Has it asked you to reformat the hard disc? If you have tried that and it still doesn't work then you may need a new hard drive. Don't worry, for $20-$50 (US) you should be able to fix it. Without knowing what happened before that it's hard to say. But my best guess is that the hard drive is internally damaged in some way. Just take off the small panel on the left side, remove the screw, use the little handle and gently pull to the right then out. It should be a Seagate SATA hard drive 20, 40, 60, or 80GB. Just buy a new one from your local store or online. Make sure that you mark the bad one before you get the new one near it so you don't get tem mixed up. Then remove the 4 little screws on the mountinng cage, switch hard drives, install back into PS3 and it will give you the format screen again. Click yes and it will format, turn off, back on, and you should be all set!!

Error code came up last week while playing ww2... this was common fault through ps3 and since the fault has cleared i can no longer load that game to play. i borrowed a copy of the same game to see if it...

PSN has been going through updates due to recent Virus and Hacker attacks on the servers. Best option at the momment is check for updates for your PS3, if you are updated and still not working, delete the game data and reinstall from the Disc and reupdate and try again. Alot of people been having the same problem ,some are waiting it out til udpates are pushed out, My PS3 had the same problem, and all I had to do was look for updates.

Ps3 not registering disc's

Hi there my PS3 experienced a similar fault (40gb) & I would recomend you contact Sony PS3 Helpline as explained below.
This fault was fixed by contacting Sony Helpline directly & explaining the fault (laser/hard drive damaged). They agreed to fix this fault free of charge & honoured my warranty as I bought this system in January 2007 by faxing them proof of purchase. They arranged to collect my PS3 via courier & advised that it will be returned within approx 3 weeks along with an extended 3 month warranty. I have to say that Sony Helpline were very helpful & their customer assistance was excellent & if your PS3 does breakdown I would recomend that you contact the Helpline first to enquire if they can assist with the problem before seeking to have this fixed at a potential cost of £100.00 upwards by independant PS3 fixers.

If it keeps saying that the hard drive needs to be reformatted, then you you have a bad hard drive if it will not reformat. It's very easy to replace your hard drive. Thanks!

Hard disc file corrupted-how do you repair?

you need a new hard drive. this will void your warranty but you can replace your original hard drive with another one of the same type (IDE / SATA) and all you should have to do is pop in the drive and it will ask to reformat the drive, say yes and let it go. then you can start playing your games again. if that dosn't work then your firmware is corrupt/damaged and you will need a new ps3. just take the hard disk out and use it in your computer or sell it on ebay. other than that, keep the busted ps3 for spare parts in case the 'new' one needs a new bluray drive in the somewhat near future.
