Look for bad solder joints on all 4 round inductors, remove the old solder first and clean the leads real weel and resolder, also check the transistors and caps.

Last night I cut my computer off and it froze on the shutting down screen so I held down the power button and it cut off. Now when I cut it on the light on the monitor is orange. It's Gateway 817GM. Help?

1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Plug was cut from monitor cable

You don't specify which cable was cut but the easiest repair is to replace the complete cable unless, of course, your AOC monitor has an attached cable that does not disconnect. If that's the case, you'll have to disassemble your monitor enough to access to the internal connections and install a replacement cable

Hi - I would like to mount my monitor on the wall - can I salely cut just below the power input?

Most monitors allow for a wall mount to be screwed on to the back with a standardized kit. I would not cut anything if I were you. Just disconnect the pedestal and use a wall bracket.
