Greetings...

Here are the steps to hopefully get you reconnected...

SymptomNot able to connect to the router/AP wirelessly, or intermittent wireless connection.
ResolutionTo address this issue, follow the steps below:
Note : The steps below are applicable only for Belkin routers.

  1. Open an Internet Explorer window on your computer and type in http://192.168.2.1 in the address bar. This will take you to the Belkin router's web based configuration page. If you are not able to open the page click here.
  2. You will get a login page. Leave the password blank. Click Submit .
  3. On the left side of the page, click Channel and SSID below Wireless .
  4. The wireless channel on the Belkin router is set to Auto by defualt. Change the wireless to a static channel. Click Apply Changes .
  5. Click Logout in the top right hand corner.
Note: The wireless card in the computer will automatically detect the change in channel number on the router and will update the channel on the card.

Have a great day...

Ed

    Greetings...

Good to know that it is working...

There are 4 different versions of your router...

    Axxx, 9xxx, 8xxx, 7xxx

Each has a different manual... they might be close, but potentially different...

You can get me the version # or go to here and get the manual for your router...

Also... make sure when you are getting the wireless secure, you want to...

    1. rename the wireless broadcast ID to something you know... like gafferswireless...

    2. make sure you have a password for the router and change user name if possible... WRITE it down or tape it to the router...

    3. last item... depending on the age of your router and if you have done updates to the router... WEP and WPA... WEP is a wireless security that can be broken... WPA is better... your router can do WPA2 and WPA... use WPS if possible...

Hope all of this is helpful...

There was a power outage 2 days ago. When the power came back on, the wireless portion of my DI-514 did not work. There was no internet connection to any of the pcs. How do I get it to work?

Try turning off the PC, the router, and the modem. Then restart them in this order waiting about 1 minute between each:

1) modem
2) router
3) PC

Good luck. Bry

Installed router and now I can't pull up any sites...shows my pc is conn to my network but can't pull up any sites....can't conn when I'm hardwired to router either...any suggestions

did you reset all connections? Start from your DSL/Cable modem power it down. leave it down. Power down the router and leave it down. Wait 2 min and then power up your DSL/Cable modem let it do it's things (approx 45sec) then start up your router and connect your computer.
Is your laptop connecting wireless or wired to the router?

Modem router light blinking (no wireless connection) F5D8631-4

Try restoring the Belkin back to the factory default by powering up the Belkin and pressing the RESET button on the back of the Belkin for 7 secs. Then connect a LAN cable from the computer to the Belkin, open IE browser and type the configuration IP address and configure the wireless settings ie. SSID, encryption etc. The computer wireless cards will need to be configured with the Belkin wireless settings to allow them to communicate with the Belkin.

My wireless hp says router cannot find host name

Double check your physical connection. It should be this way

Modem > connected to Internet Port of the router
PC > connected to port 1
Laptop > can be wireless

Now you must power cycle your router and modem. Turn off router first then modem. Wait for 30 seconds. Power on modem first, then the router. You must configure the wireless settings on your laptop it doesn't connect automatically.

No internet signal from router

To isolate the concern, it would be better to test the non working computer to the modem. If it works, that means there is a problem with the router and if it isn't then it is a problem with the pc..

If the computer works fine on the modem, you can try the following to check if the router works fine:

1. The modem should be connected to the router's WAN/Internet port.
2. The computers should be hard wired to the router's numbered port
3. On the router's setup page, go to the Status tab and check if the Internet IP address and the DNS are populated. If not, that means the router is not functioning correctly.
4. Go to the wireless tab and make sure that the SSID is customized. Make sure that the wireless computer is connecting to the said SSID.

If those had been checked and it still does not work, you can try updating the firmware of the router, reset and reconfigure it.

However, if the computer does not work on the modem. You may need to have it checked.
