Question about Danby DWC2121BLS Wine Cooler

2 Answers

Danby DWC2121BLS wine cooler is cooling one side only. I suspected the solenoid valve and it is electrically faulty (high resistance 1.8 Megohm). Where can I find a solenoid valve and how much would I expect to pay? Also, I've soldered lots of water pipes, any reason I can't (or shouldn't) solder the new solenoid in myself? Does it need to be recharged after I do it? Thanks!

    1) What do you mean "soldering is not the best option"? Are the copper tubes not soldered together?

    2) I know the solenoid valve itself doesn't need to be recharged. I was really asking if cutting the tubes to the solenoid valve causes the refrigerant to escape, requiring the system to be recharged.

    3) I was hoping to find out what a replacement solenoid valve is worth, so that if I do take it to our local repair shop I know if they are ripping me off or not.

    Thanks

Yes once you take out the solenoid valve the refrigerant will escape and you need to recharge with new gas.You cannot prevent it from gas escaping.
Thank You

Hello

I do not think soldering is the best option

The best solution is for you to take your wine cooler to a repairer and let him/her replace the solenoid valve and as well fix it in for you

You do not need to recharge a solenoid.

Danby DWC2121BLS dual commpartment wine cooler is cooling normally but after 2 days aprox the temperature increase and beeping and flashing hi

If evaporator starts to freeze up the ice accumulated serves as an insulator and the temps go up. If you turn it off and let ice buildup melt the unit will work fine again until it refreezes.

Check if unit has a device to prevent ice build up. If so, it is not working. If warm moist air is entering the area of evaporator coil, that could also be causing the buildup.

Beeping will not stop on wine cooler - red wine side

Beeping usually indicates that something has gone wrong. Probably not cooling properly. The water coming out would indicate that the unit has defrosted. Turn the unit back on again and see if the red side is cooling properly. Some wine fridges have independent evaporators which allows different cooling temps in different parts of the cabinet.

I am looking for the cooling fan for a Danby Silhouette DWC512BL-1 wine cooler. A google link took me to your site but I don't see any links to Danby parts.

As I have worked on a few ELECTROLUX wine coolers and they do not have a cooling fan for the inside of the unit are you speaking of the one under and in back of your cooler if so then it is a condenser fan motor it will be 110v and your local appliance store should be able to order one close enough to work in design and rotation of it. Hope this helps.

Unit has been operating in a wine closet and just stopped working it there anything I should check or clean? swaney167@aol.com

does the 'closet' have any ventilation? if not the unit could have overheated and shut down or , worse, burned up the motor. any 'electric smell to it? under the unit, should be a fan, it that stopped it will not cool. look for lint build up under the unit or around any air vents. How old is the wine cooler? can you get any info from the Wine cooler's mfg web site? www.danby.com/products/wine__beverages -
