Question about LG Washing Machines

1 Answer

I am so unhappy about the mold problem in the door gasket of my LG Tromm washer. I keep the door ope to ventilate, I dry it out, STILL mold and slime! I periodically bleach the washer to disinfect...still the mold will not come off. You can scrubb visible areas, but what about the internal parts? I feel as if the environmental people who insisted that we all buy front-loaders were really stupid! How can this be good for my clothes, my family or the environment? Are there any fixes for this problem???

Hello- Well, you are not alone in your frustration and the only real solution, unfortunately, is to replace the gasket. As far as the internal parts I have rarely seen mold growing on those parts (in any front load washer), most of the the internal parts are hard plastic and stainless steel and these do not seem to allow the mold to grow even though they are wet a lot of the time. The internal hoses as well do not seem to have this problem. Though it gives little solace or immediate remedy I do think the manufacturers are going to have to come up with a rubber formulation that is not such a friendly environment for the mold. Considering the number of these gaskets, door boots, I have replaced over the years there must be some real issue with the engineering of this rubber or else they would have found a solution years ago. You could try contacting LG and asking them to replace it for free or at least send you the part for free. It usually takes a Tech about an hour to replace. Best regards.

How do i get the mold out?

A lot of times liquid detergent and liquid fabric softener will cause this. Dry the door seal after use and leave the door open. Don' t use bleach if you're on a septic system. There are products that are septic safe to clean the mold. Powdered detergent and not closing it up after using should help a lot

Rubber gasket removal LG Tromm front loader

We found there is three small holes on the seal right inside the door, check to see if they are clogged with soap scum and clean them out. Run a cycle of hot water and bleach. Then, after each use, leave the door open and let it air dry and this has seem to work.

Mold in rubber ring front loader Fridgidare washer

Common problem. Clean the moulding as best you can, even scour with steel wool. Leave the door open so the machine will be dry when not in use or/and wipe the rubber after each use. You can try to cover up the odour by wiping with a rag moistened with vanilla essence. Otherwise fit a new rubber and keep it dry in future.

Odor coming from inside washer

There is a tub beyond the tub you see. Run a load of water with chlorine bleach. This will kill the mold & mildew spores that are causing the odors. ****Do NOT add clothing to this washload****

If possible, keep the door open when not in use. This will allow the inside to dry and mold & mildew cannot grow.

Washer stinks - smells like mold or mildew

You have to kill the mold. To do that mix one cup of clorox liquid bleach into one quart of water and wipe all aroung the rubber. Let it dry and do it again. That will solve your problem

LG Tromm

Place a good level on the top of the machine where it is flat. Check front to back and side to side. Level machine exactly. Now put a load in and when it spins feel the feet for any that are not solid on the floor. Adjust the foot down until the machine stops shaking.

LG TROMM - awful smell while washer is running

Use the aafesh tablets as instructed, this will clear hoses that have developed some mold, also inspect drain at the wall, these get moldy and as machine runs, smell comes out of there as well.
