Just to add that faxes result in the list reported but definitely not sent to the email box, although indicated so.

  • attagianno Oct 06, 2010

Fax rings, the fax answeres, appeares to receive but nothing arrives to the maibox.

    Thanks

Display also was indicating sending to email.

  • attagianno Oct 06, 2010

Is a small network of 3 pc's. Nothing changed on printer setup. Still prints fax on paper and it also prints as before from the same pc.

  • attagianno Oct 06, 2010

Is a normal network plug similar to the telephone, so no router or switch I suppose.

Forgive my 'stupid' question. If I give a webmail address, independent of a mail server ?

  • attagianno Oct 06, 2010

I suppose mail server is needed anyway to send the email. Sorry..

  • attagianno Oct 06, 2010

is already restarted everything more times. I add also that initially the problem seemed to be resolved but then came back stable.

  • attagianno Oct 06, 2010

Yes I know, is the same technician who was working on it these days. I should ask info to him about the mail server.
    Thanks

Can you please explain a little bit more, what do you mean by "they get lost"? Does it ring, answer the fax, appear to receive, and nothing ever really gets received?

Thanks
Tim

Ok you say nothing arrives to the mailbox... I am assuming it used to arrive at the mailbox just fine? Is this a Samsung SCX-5530FN? Does the display of the fax indicate it is storing the faxes in the printer? Please confirm, it used to receive them to a mailbox (email?) just fine, and the model number of the unit.

    Thanks

Ok something has happened to the network setup on the fax machine... either that or the fax mechanism in general has completely failed. Are you on a large network there or is it just a few computers connected together? Who set up the machine originally? It is very complex to go back through the network setup on the device.

My guess is that if nothing has changed to your knowledge on the setup of the fax that it is actually starting to fail internally. Does it still print through the network just fine?

    Thanks

Ah ok thats some good information. That means something has happened to the network setup or connection on the printer then, it sounds like the fax mechanism is indeed fine. Do you have any idea if this printer is plugged into a switch... directly into a router... or how it's connected to the network?

    Thanks

Ok well that means something is either going on with the network connection itself on the printer, or the mail server that handles the mail coming from the printer. Try resetting your network equipment, unplug it for a good 30 seconds and replug it in. Give it a try then...

If it still doesn't work you will want to contact whoever does your mail server hosting and see if the server is having problems or something. It appears this printer is working correctly, the mail just isn't getting to it's destination.

No problem, no stupid questions there, sorry for assuming you knew. Yes there is still some mail server in the process, it has to use something to send it to your webmail address. It is probably your internet providers mail server...

Did you try resetting the network equipment, making sure it still has a solid connection to the printer?

Hmmm, so it was resolved, but then the issue returned? And you have reset the router and switches on your network? I would definitely say you should call / contact whoever is hosting the mail server. Do you know who set up this machine originally? They should know who runs the mail server that it's using.

    Thanks

No problem, the issue definitely lies somewhere in the routing of the actual mail, that could be the network or the actual mail server. The good news is that it sounds like the machine is functioning fine though, so at least the solution isn't going to be expensive to fix, just a little time consuming as he figures out what is causing it.

    provided.

    Thank you so much,

Retrieval of fax from memory

No. And even if you could, it would simply list the # the fax was received from, and the # of pages. The actual fax is not retained.

How to fax forward?

You can set your product to forward incoming faxes to another fax number. When the fax arrives at
your product, it is stored in memory. Then your product dials the fax number you have specified
and sends the fax. If it cannot forward a fax because of an error (for example, the number is busy)
and repeated attempts to redial are unsuccessful, your product will print the fax.
If the product runs out of memory while receiving a fax, it will terminate the incoming fax and only
forward the pages and partial pages already stored in memory.
When using this feature, the product must be the one receiving faxes (not the computer) and the
answer mode must be set to Automatic (see Changing how the product answers incoming faxes).
To use fax forwarding
1
Press menu/enter.
2 Use the < or > button to select Fax Setup and press menu/enter.
3 Use the < or > button to select Fax Recv. Setup and press menu/enter.
4 Use the < or > button to select Forward Fax and press menu/enter.
5 Press > to select On or Off and press menu/enter.
6 If you choose to turn fax forwarding on, use the alphanumeric buttons to enter the fax number
where you want the fax to go, and press menu/enter to save your selection.
