Question about Smeg Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Pushed several buttons on the oven and now have a flashing "A" and no action. Unfortunately, when we bought this house with the beautiful new electric Smeg oven and gas cooktop, the seller had not kept any of the manuals - nor had he used the new oven! Kindly help. Caroline

Just got somebody from Smeg on the phone. Turns out that all you have to do is to push two buttons at once - the ones that look like a pot cooking and the same image with an X through it. You push them both at once and hold for a few seconds and the A disappears and it all works again.

The guy I spoke to is also going to send me a manual via e-mail.

Thanks for taking the time to answer anyway & hope this is useful to you too.

The manual is not going to help you ,it would only make you feel your not selecting things properly. So,here it is,REPLACE THE CONTROL BOARD  some times called the CLOCK or CONTROL ELECTRIC.

Nice way to test a tech.It sure would be nice if we could hold a couple of buttons down and get manufacturers to stop and go back  to the basics, who really needs all these options ? 85% of my customers don't even want to know how they work.
Glad you got the right info.

Flashing F1 clearly indicates a problem in the electronic control, its keypad (which may only be available with the control) or sometimes even the oven sensor.
The first thing you can try is disconnecting the appliance from power for several minutes to see if that clears the problem. If not, some investigating will likely be necessary. However, a defective oven temperature sensor can also sometimes trigger the same F-1 error to display. It is also not inconceivable that an improperly grounded or polarized power supply to the range could also cause intermittent failures of the electronic control. Checking the power supply should usually be done as a matter of course during testing.
Unfortunately, it will likely be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause unless the range can be tested *at the time of failure*. Otherwise just replacing the possible suspect components may need to be done to see if they correct the condition.

Oven wont turn on

OK, so after searching around online I struggled to find an answer to this question.
I finally figured it out after trying all the different button combinations.
You can to press and hold the second button from the left and the third button from the left simultaneously. They while holding these buttons, press the plus and minus buttons to set the clock.
Once the clock is set, the over will work.

I know this is an old thread, but hopfully with will save the next person the headache.

GE Spectra XL44 Gas Oven, flashing "Locked Door". Can't use oven or close door

I had the same problem happen tonight. I have an XL44 self-cleaning gas range. We unplugged it for several minutes and pressed 'cancel' a bunch of times--neither worked. We finally lucked out--opened the oven door and pressed a black button on the upper left side of the front of the oven. It turned out the flashing words and unlocked our door. Weird. There was nothing in the manual about this...

Hello Friends Creek.
Welcome to Fixya
You said, you used the self cleaning selection on my Admiral Designer Series gas range. The oven went through the complete cycle of 3 hours. You then unlocked the door and was able to open the oven door no problem. Later on you went to use the oven, pushed the bake button and the lock light would flash. And you could not get past that to get the oven to come on.

You did the right thing to turn off the electricity and then turned it back on.
Did you wait 5 minutes before turning the power back on?Or just flick it off and on?
You said, the lock light still blinked.
But did it lockup again?

Please send me the model and year of your range.
