Hi, what happens if this roll out switch is tripping, as it is a safety switch, what will cause a flame roll out is a flue cap missing on your roof, or a bird has nested in the flue pipe this is something you should check. I have had this happen before. Wind will blow down and cause the flame to roll out. Also, if that looks good, a cracked heat exchanger will do this also, but this is a new unit so I will rule this out. The next thing you need to due, is remove each burner one at a time, turn it over and clean it out. To remove one there is a slot at the very back that it will rest in. Raise the back up by grasping the burner from the front, slide it forward over the brass orfice and pull it out, very easy. Do the same when putting it back as you want it to set in the slot in the back, and pull it over the orfice. Make sure your inducer motor is running up to speed and not shutting down on you somewhere in the heating cycle. If it were to shut off, the heater would shut off, so there is no danger. When you smell these fumes, the burners are plugging up and you are smelling this. If your gas furnace is propane gas and not natural, this is a big problem if and when the burners start to plug up. If it is propane and you continue to have a problem, call out you local gas company and just tell them you smell gas. They will check the inlet and manifold pressures for you at no charge. Make sure this flue pipe is clear and please don't forget to rate me and keep me posted in the comment section, I would like to know what you find.
Sincerely,

PS, Propane if you have it, will cause the burners to carbon up, so you need to keep an eye open.

Thank you for the great rating. When this problem happens, roll out, its either plugged burners, or air coming down the flue blowing the flame back enough to trip the switch. I hope you find the cause.

How to make sure you Heat is working

A common problem with a furnance is the furnance will attempt to ignite, several times, you will notice that the house is not heating properly. You will hear the furnance come on and you will assume the heat is on, and the house will continue to be cool. You wiil check the furnance and you will hear it start up and the blower will come on, however a few seconds later after you have walked away the blower will shut down and there is no heat on at this time. You will again go check the furnance and after the furnance start and go through the cycle the furnance will shut down you will notice that the furnance has indeed shut down. This is the common problem of the flame sensor, you will have to remove the flame sensor, get a small piece of fine grade sand paper, and remove all the black colored carbon from the flame sensor until is is shinning bright, replace the flame sensor and attempt to start the furnance. You will notice that apatment or house have reach the set temperture, that the furnance has went through its cycle and the furnance will ignite and stay on continueously until the house obtain the preset temperture..

Fan comes on no heat

turn a/c power off. place a jumper wire between both sides of switch, leaving wire attached on both sides. power on, set thermo to heat, if furnace stay lit after test, replace rollout switch. If furnace shuts down after short time it's not the rollout. please remove jumper after test.

My furnance keeps turning off and I could go to furnance flip switch on and it only last 5 minutes then shuts off again

You may want to check the limit switch or you could have a issue with the gas valve or transformer. I would check the low voltage transformer first, Sometimes I have found that under load the transformer will open ( quit working) and will close after power is removed and it cools down, It indicates a bad internal connection.

Gas furnance would only operate for about 3-5 minutes then turn off. Replaced gas valve on furance for a Rudd comerical A/C 4 ton unit model UKKA-A048JK10E. Now the blower fan turns on but the igniator and...

the rollout switches will be located at the ends of the burner assembly and will have a manual reset. they must be manually reset to ensure that the problem has been corrected. Most units will go into a soft lockout for a time and eventually a hard lockout if the problem persists. Go to tempstar.com and go to their troubleshooting section for a gas furnace. the codes they give are pretty common for alot of furnaces and see if they help

Emergency heat is made for this kind of situation. So yes you can.
now for the codes.
code 12= Blower on after power up
code 31=High heat pressure switch or relay didn't close or reopened
code 32=Low heat pressure switch or relay didn't close or reopened
code 33=limit circuit fault(Flame rollout switch is open)
code 41=board fault
code 42=control lockout
