Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water.

To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.

Fixed the problem by replacing the ELECTRIC ANTI-OVERFLOW VALVE. Simple enough installation - bit fiddly.

There is water in the bottom panel which has activated the float switch which overrides everything to stop the room the dishwasher is in from flooding. Remove the panel look for the leak. In my case one of the pipes had come off. There will be a lot of water in the panel so try and drain it first, tip the washer forward over some sort of container to catch the water. In my case I got very wet.

The issue can either be with the unit not draining properly or the timer/electronic board itself has gone bad & should be replaced. First clean the drain hose and the drain pump for any clogs, you can do this by taking off the bottom access panel. After cleaning if still the issue is not resolved then the timer/control board has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

SOURCE: I have a Zanussi dishwasher

Hello David,

Have you removed and cleaned both filters and checked they are inserted correctly? I've uploaded the filter cleaning instructions to Flickr for you:

The centre (horseshoe) filter simply lifts out then rinse thoroughly under the tap. Make sure the handle is facing the front of the dishwasher when you replace it.

To clean the larger outer filter you need to remove the lower spray-arm (pulls upwards and off), then rotate the filter 90 degrees anti-clockwise and lift it out. Again rinse thoroughly under the tap and scrub thoroughly to make sure the mesh is clear.

Finally, before replacing the filters, check down in the sump where the filters go, remove any debris or build up of waste and give it a clean.

If this doesn't solve the problem, I suspect there may be a blockage in the discharge pipe causing excess pressure when the washer tries to pump out. This may be causing water to leak out from one of the seals associated with the drain pump. Start by disconnecting the discharge pipe from the trap under the sink and make sure the end of the discharge pipe and the inlet into the trap are clear. Remove the sink trap if necessary and clean it. If there is a blockage here, clearing it should solve the problem.

If not follow the discharge pipe back towards the washer and bend it a squeeze it gently to see if you can feel a blockage and loosen any build up of waste. If you find a blockage, flexing the pipe at that location should be enough to free it and it should pump through the next time you run the dishwasher.

Please try the above in the order suggested, then let me know if you need further assistance. You can reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question. If you can determine where the water is leaking from, it would help.

Zanussi zsf2450 dishwasher keeps pausing mid cycle with 20 flashing on the little screen I have checked the waste drain pipe it's clear but don't know where the pump is to check if it is that

Fault code "i20" means water drain time-out.
(The pressure switch does not return to EMPTY after two drain phases lasting 120 seconds).

Possible causes:
Drain circuit obstructed/blocked; drain pump interrupted or jammed (foreign bodies); level pressure switch blocked on FULL (1-3); hydraulic circuit of pressure switch obstructed; wiring faulty; circuit
board faulty.

The floor of the machine is held with screws at the front, and clipped in at the back. It contains the bosses for the overflow water and the flooding switch.

After removal you come to the most important functional components.

Zanussi dishwasher anti flood device

There is a water level pressure switch that is your issue. Replace that or if youre lucky, clean the hose/pipe connected to the pressure switch and it could work again.

My machine seems to be stuck on a drain cycle

Sounds like your 'anti flood' system is activated. This happens when a leak fills the drip tray on the base of the machine, and a anti flood float switch senses water in the tray. Leaks can come from several sources - loose pipes, leaking door gaskets - even opening the door while the machine is hot! i.e. to add an extra item after the machine has started, for example. ISOLATE THE POWER and examine the base tray, if its a free standing machine tip the machine back at an angle (The Hemlich manoeuvre for Dishwashers lol) and the water will flood out - if built in, remove the lower front panel. Once the water is removed, the machine should start - but if the problem occurs, the leak is still there. Zanussi machines are tricky - you'll probably need an engineer to sort it out - expect not much change out of £100. Cheers!

My zanussi dishwasher zdt12011fa will not switch off and the pump continues to run, obviously trying to remove non existant water! any ideas??

Most dishwashers (especially built in dw) in the bottom has microswitch which is activated if water leaks and runs drain pump to prevent flooding.

Zanussi diswasher ZDI6053N does not finish its cycle. It has to be turned off manually

Your dishwasher is a sophisticated device that registered most failures. The End of cycle LED flashes if there are alarms memorized. So, count how many times the End of cycle LED flashes.
For example:
One flash - i10, the problem with water intake
Two flashes - i20, a problem wit drain water
Three flashes - i30, activated anti-flooding device
..... and so on

My dishwasher keeps flashing i30 and wont start what shall i do

In your case occurred intervention of anti-flooding system.
Displayed Error is "i30"
The cycle is interrupted and the drain pump switches on.
Could be:
Water leakage from the tub - sump and various
connections (pump, upper spray arm duct etc.);
floating sensor blocked mechanically; microswitch
faulty; fill solenoid blocked mechanically; circuit
board faulty (solenoid triac short-circuited); wiring

First, try to tilt dishwasher and see if leaking water from its bottom.
This is most commonly occurs.

The washer floods at the end of the cycle the pump is working this i know because when i manualy lift the mushroom float it pumps out could it be that there is a membrane in the mushroom float that is...

Hi there,

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "floods at the end of the cycle". Is water leaking from the washer and where from?

The mushroom float isn't a water level sensor to determine when the washer should pump out. It's a second level safety feature to prevent flooding if the washer overfills. The flow meter regulates the water level in the washer.

Your pump is obviously working and there is no blockage in the drain hose, etc as the water pumps out when you lift the mushroom float. It sounds like the pump isn't receiving a signal from the controller to pump out at the end of the wash cycle. Lifting the float bypasses the controller and runs the drain pump.

Please try the following simple test:

1. Switch the programme selector to "Off"
2. Empty a bucket of water into the bottom of the washer
3. Turn the programme selector to any wash cycle
4. Press and hold the Reset button (start/stop) for at least 3 seconds. The washer should drain.

Please try this test and let me know if the washer pumps out. Please can you also be a little more specific about how and where the washer is flooding.

I have the same problem if you take off the tray below the front door and set a small blow heater in there it will dry the out the anti flood switch. It usally takes about 25 mins for the machine to start working again.
