Several possibilities. If there is a HD box going into this unit, it will give you this message. If there is a modulator or converter box between the cable/sat box and this unit, it will give you that msg. If you have an input plugged into an input, it will give you this msg. Finally, if you have anything other than a camcorder plugged into the FRONT of this unit, it will give you this message. Recheck your connections.

How can I record a music cassette to a music disc on my Magnavox DVD recorder/ VHS --Model # ZV427MG9

You can't burn a CD-A with the ZV427MG9. The unit will not burn to a CD to play in a CD player.

You may be able to record the audio to a DVD with no video source. Connect your cassette player to the Line In audio ports (L/R) at either the back or front of the unit. Depending on your cassette player, you may need a 3.5 mm M to RCA F/F adapter to connect the RCA audio cable to the cassette player's headphone jack. Do not connect a cable to the video input of the composite input unless you have a video on a camera or something to play back. This means that the recorded video may say "No Signal" or will be black or static. (Note: this may not work with this signal issue.)

Set the unit to record to DVD on L1 or L2, as needed, by pressing Source on your remote. Advance the cassette to where you want to record. Press Rec on the DVD unit and then press Play on your cassette player. If you want to identify tracks, Stop the recording and play back and then press Rec and Play again. You are at risk of having issues with the volume during the recording. Clipping of overly-loud sounds and distortion is possible.

When done, finalize the disc, if desired, to play the disc on other DVD players.

If you want to make an audio CD, you would be better off using a computer and connecting the cassette player to the Line In jack of the computer. You do have to make some adjustments to avoid recording the default Microphone input. Use a program like Audacity or any other audio editing program. Record the signal and divide it into tracks, if needed. Now you can filter out any distortion as well. Then save as a WAV file. Use a different program to burn the WAV files to a CD-A. (This must be burned as a mastered disc; my attempts that worked on an older CD player failed if there were gaps between the tracks. Lots of programs will do this; Roxio Creator is one option.)

The manual for the ZV427MG9 is available here: http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/z/zv427mg9_f7/zv427mg9_f7_dfu_aen.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Zva457mg9A has tv tuner

If you mean the DirectTV satellite system, the tuner in the Magnavox ZV457MG9A will not work. That tuner is for OTA (ATSC and NTSC) and CATV channels. You must connect the Composite A/V Line Out from the receiver to the Line In (front or back) of the recorder. Then, you need to select L1 or L2 (Line In, as needed) by pressing the Source button (at the top of the remote to the left of the Open/Close DVD button). If you are recording immediately, do this after setting the Record mode. Then press Rec if you want to record immediately. Set the receiver to the channel that you will want to record before setting the recording. Leave the unit on that channel and do not turn it off before the recording time. If you are doing a timed record, set the source after setting the time with the up/down/right/left arrows and then press the right arrow to continue setting the timed recording.

If you mean OTA, make sure that you are correctly choosing Digital channels with the DTV/TV button unless you have analog channels still broadcasting in your area. Also check if the antenna signal is strong enough to be seen by the tuner. The digital signal is either enough to be tuned in or you get "no signal". If you split the signal to record and watch different programs, you may reduce the signal below that needed by the tuner. (Different tuners have varying sensitivities. So the TV might still get enough signal when the recorder doesn't.) Amplified splitters can resolve this but when they fail give more problems.

The manual for the is available from Manage My Life: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/27010/MAGNAVOX-DVD-VCR-Combo-L0908672 . All recordings are in SD.

I hope this helps.

I get sound recording but no video when using my magnavox dvd rec

You have to use a red, white, and yellow connection, or a red, white and s-video connection.

Two possibilities:

1) Connect a yellow composite A/V cable (or an S-video cable, if you prefer) from the video or monitor OUT of your cable or satellite box.

OR:
2) Connect a yellow composite A/V cable (or an S-video cable, if you prefer) from the video or monitor OUT of your TV (many TV's don't have such a thing).

Try recording again - it should work this time.

Can the Magnavox Dvd player/VCP DV200MW8 record shows onto VHS's

unfortunately the machine is not a recording machine IE: it is a player only. However in todays day and age you can pick up a good used one at the goodwill for around 10-20 bucks that can record. hook up is easy, one cable in one out and presto you can record on a blank tape. just remember the begining of a blank tape always has a few seconds of nothing on it so dont hit rec just as you are watching it start the machine about ten seconds early.
hope this was helpfull.
