How to backup copies of all your disks

DVD and Compact disk disks became a part of our way of life; most of us have a significant assortment of motion pictures, audio CDs, photographs, video games, office paperwork as Ill as other disks. And it is really frequently that you simply require to make a backup of that disk, for backup functions or merely to produce a couple of copies of your Adding video clip for your close friends. You will find a lot of applications that may imitate your DVD motion pictures, but really number of those which may copy all of your disks, both Compact disc and DVD

Here I'll test a plan known as AVS DVD Copy, which claims copying any type of DVD and Compact disk disks. I'd prefer to check is it really can replicate any type of disk

Setup requires a number of seconds, the plan is created as a classic step-by-step wizard, and it appears slick and clear. Pick disk to copy, it is a DVD film now, and press "Next" button to go further. I've got two DVD movie drives on our test personal computer so the system asks do I want to imitate directly from drive to push? Yes I do! Press "Next" once again and it began to duplicate. By default it helps make a single imitate, but you are able to set quantity of copies as you like

Arrive again, now with a sound Compact disk. AVS DVD Copy does the task perfectly; I have received specifically exactly the same Compact disk, no top quality loss in any way! I did exactly the same with several of recreation CDs, CD with photographs, MP3 new music DVD, one more Digital video disc film, and one more Digital video disc film. All attempts Ire successfull, no hassles

Then I examined the way it operates having a solitary CD/DVD drive. First it copies from disk to computer, then asks to insert a blank disk and writes an imitate. It takes additional time, but the outcome can also be perfect

What I also observed is AVS DVD Copy does not decrease the good quality of DVD and DVD motion pictures and audio CDs, which is good. Actually, you get a correct duplicate, specifically the identical as authentic. AVS DVD Copy is seriously in a position to imitate any CDs and DVDs, and it does not matter what disk is in your push, you obtain a correct duplicate with AVS DVD Copy movie anyway. I successfully copied over 10 disks, both Compact disk and DVD, which contained video clip, MP3 audio, Compact disk audio tracks, pictures, paperwork, no cost computer software along with other stuff. It effectively recognizes various CDR/RW, DVD+/-R/RW disks and double-layer DVD movie videos

There's only a single function missed in AVS DVD Copy. Regrettably it can't encode 9 GB double-layer Digital video disc for the four.7Gb single layer, so individuals who're in search of this function will probably be frustrated. But in any case AVS DVD Copy is still a single in the best DVD Copy software program I ever seen.

There are several ways to achieve this, below I've listed two.
  1. Purchase an external USB CD/DVD Drive.
  2. Create a disk image of the CD, transfer the image to your new machine, then use a virtual disk to mount the image and use it as you would a normal CD drive.
Obviously, the first option is going to be the easiest to do. However, it'll cost you, on average, about $40 dollars.
The second option is time consuming and confusing to a novice or someone who may not have done it before. I'll go ahead and explain how to do it, in case you're looking to save money.
First, we need to create the image file.

  1. Download and install MagicISO on to a machine with an optical drive. (The free version has all the features you'll need, there is no need to purchase it.)
  2. Insert your Quark XPress CD into the systems optical drive.
  3. Under the start menu, find an open MagicISO
  4. With MagicISO open, click on Tools > Make ISO from CD/DVD-ROM
  5. In the Make ISO from CD/DVD-ROM dialog, click the drop-down menu next to CD/DVD-Driver and select the device that has your CD in it.
  6. In the Make ISO from CD/DVD-ROM dialog, click the icon of a folder next to the Output File input field, browse to your Desktop and enter an appropriate file name. (eg. Quark XPress 8.1.6.uif)
  7. Click OK
Now that we've created the image file, we need to transfer it to your new computer. If the Quark XPress 8.1.6 was in-fact a CD and not a DVD, the disk image shouldn't be any larger than 700MB. Therefore, if you have USB Thumb Drive 1GB or larger, you can use it to transfer the image.
Alternatively, if you connect them both to the same LAN (Local Area Network) and transfer the files over the network. To do this:

  1. On the machine with the disk image, go to click Start then type "sharing" and open the Network and Sharing Center
  2. In the left column, click on Change advanced sharing settings
  3. Now ensure that Public folder sharing is turned on.
  4. Browse to your Desktop and select the image file, press Ctrl + X to Cut the file.
  5. Next, browse to C:\Users\Public\Downloads and press Ctrl + V to Paste the image file.
  6. On your new laptop, ensure that you're connected to the network.
  7. Now, open My Computer and in the left column click on Network
  8. The other system should appear, click on it, then open Users > Public > Downloads.
  9. You should now see the image file, select it and press Ctrl + C to Copy it.
  10. Browse to the Desktop on and press Ctrl + V to paste it and wait for it to transfer. Depending on your network speeds, and wireless signal quality, it may take several minutes.
Lastly, you need to be able to install the software. Therefore, we'll create a virtual disk.

  1. Download and install MagicDisk (Freeware)
  2. After it's installed, it will automatically run. You will find an icon of a hand holding a disk in the Windows Taskbar (next to the clock).
  3. MagicDisk should automatically create one virtual disk. However, to make sure, right-click on the icon and hover over Set Number of Drives then click 1 Drive in the sub-menu.
  4. Now, right-click the icon again, hover over Virtual CD/DVD-ROM. One item should appear as a sub-menu, it should say something like E: No Media. Mouse-over the sub-menu, then in the 3rd-tier menu select Mount.
  5. A new dialog will appear, browse to your Desktop and select your image file. Click Open
  6. Your virtual drive should now auto-play the disk image. If it does not, you can launch it manually under My Computer.
As a final note, if you are not on the same network and don't have any physical medium to transfer the files, you can always upload the file to a free file sharing or data backup service such as DropBox (provided that the file is not too large). However, this will likely take a long time as it's dependent on your internet connections speed.

I have norton antivirus 2010 CD but my CD drive is not working for download this software in my Window xp Computer.

ksd_kvic

First thing I would double check and make sure the disk is not actually a DVD because alot of installers are on those now. If it is an actual CD then I would try it in another computer. If it works then we know the disk is good and you will need a newer CD drive for your computer. The reason for this is the copy protection that is in the disk. There is what is called over burn so the disk has more than 700mb of data on the disk. The problem with this is the old drives will not read this. I actually ran into a newer computer had one of these drives in them. So you might see if a friend has an external drive that you can borrow if you do not want to replace the drive.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

have you tried another DVD yet? you might jsut be good spending the $20 on a new drive.
you could also try running a regestry editor to fix corrupted registry as it is a likely cause of drives not working
also, updating drives is good

All you need to do is change the device it is going to burn the files to. Apparently it is currently set to burn an .nrg image file to your hard disk. If you click on the down arrow next to the Image Drive, you will see your DVD/CD drives listed there.

Coping dvds ,cds

If you are copying a DVD to another blank DVD, just put the original DVD inside > open Nero > click Copy disk > then the copy dialog box window will appear. > Just select your favourite speed ( [8x] medium speed recommended) and click Burn. If you are copying a DVD to your hard disk, just put your DVD on the drive, Open My computer > right click DVD drive icon and click open > Then select the appropriate file or folder to copy > right click it select copy > close the window. Now open My computer > open disk drive [may be D: or E:and so on... ] > right click and select paste. Now the file will be copied to your disk.
