Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Hi I have 4 yo sgs53e Bosch dishwasher which will not drain. I have removed and cleaned the filter, have undone the screw and removed the white cover, cleaned the tracks and ensured that the little propeller thing turns in both directions (requires a bit of a turn but does turn). I have run out of ideas as to what to do next.

Are you sure it is not draining ?
what are thy symptoms ?
mine (same model) stopped working yesterday.
if you try to terminate the wash (follow instructions in manual), does it drain ?
if it does (like mine did) then you don't have a drainage problem but most probably a problem with the control board.
the control board on these models manages to desolder itself (yes really), in most cases you just need to re-solder. if it is this problem you will see straight away once you remove the controle board (there mill be solder missing on the board). in some cases this causes a relay to burn out, but you can either test it first or assume its ok and just resoled, and see if it works ok.

Water still remains in the dishwasher even after cleaning up the drain?

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller.
Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

My bosch dishwasher will not drain and makes a humming noise

Humming noise is an indication of your drain motor getting power but not spinning. Either your drain pump is defective and needs to be replaced, or something is stuck in the pump preventing it from draining out the water. Either way you will have to take the dishwasher out and get at the pump from the bottom of the machine.

Water in bottom of bosch dishwasher will not drain. How do I get this water to drain

Hi

Dishwasher not draining issue occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. To access the drain pump, please follow the procedure---
1. Drain pumps are mounted to sumps in the front of dishwashers --they're easily accessible from the front of dishwashers by removing toe kicks.
2. Tools needed: small flat blade screwdriver (for unlocking terminals).
3. Remove toe kick/base cover, pull up terminal cover and disconnect wires (using screwdriver to unlock locking terminals).
4. To remove pump, pull latch (on circular collar) & rotate pump clockwise (cw).
5. To install new pump, insert @ 2:00 position & rotate counterclockwise (ccw).
6. Clean water & debris from base, then check float operation.
7. Connect wires, then install base cover & toe kick.
Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.
