This is common for front loader washers. They make cleaner that you run through your washer once or twice a year to correct this problem. Take a look at this page there is a link to where you can buy some of the cleaner under the section called clean washer http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/dryer-maintenance.html

It is a good answer for a washer, but the question was about a dryer.

I was assuming the smell was getting on the clothes and transferring to the dryer. If this is not the case you can try cleaning out the dryer. Take it apart and clean all the lint out up in the motor, blower, bottom of dryer and the vent.

See if the washer smells anything like the dryer.

Odor

if you have a bad odor, pull off the vent line from the back and see if an animal is dead there,i've found dead birds, mice and a possum,in the blower wheel of some dryers, they get in from the outside hood, once they get into the vent line and slide down they can't climb back out or if the dryer is running the wheel does a job on them.also if you had some painting or staining done this also can make the dryer smell bad.this is going by what i've found when someone complains about an odor in the dryer.hope this helps, one more thing if the motor is overheating from the dryer not being cleaned out it could have like a shellac smell, you might have to take the dryer apart to see what's stinking or it could be something near the dryer, when the air is heated in the dryer it makes the smell worse but if you find waht is causing it and remove it the smell will go away,if it is from a dead animal you can wash down the area with soapy water, you don't want to use anything with a strong smell because your clothes will smell of that when the dryer heats up.what does it smell like?

Bathroom sink smells strongly like sewer when water runs fast.

Suppose you plugged the drain of the sink and filled the basin with water, then removed the plug. I must think that only after the basin empties you would get the sewer smell, and the smell would persist until you slowly ran some more water. If you try this, and this is the result, then the problem is that the sewer vent (that is supposed to prevent the water in the trap under the sink from being sucked down the drain) is not working right. If this is a new problem then you may be able to clear what is probably a blocked vent pipe. If this bathroom has always had this problem, then you have a poorly designed or executed vent pipe setup that you can only fix it with some surgery to your plumbing. However, to clean the vent you can try pouring a good bit of drain cleaner down the vent pipe on the roof, followed by water. But because there may be several vent pipes sharing the same vent stack out the roof, the drain cleaner may not get to your blockage and may simply go down a different path. Good luck.

Does air cnditioner give any foul smell when running

Hello typically a air conditioner does not give off a foul smell, sometimes the condensate that drains out can have a moldy kind of smell or if mold is growing inside the unit it can give off a foul smell called " dirty sock syndrome". The last possibilty is that if the condensate line is drained to a floor drain and on the negative pressure side of the evaporator coil it could be pulling the sewer gas up thru the line, in this case the condensate line must be trapped to prevent this. Also, I would recommend pouring some bleach into the condensate line every few monthes.

My new Electrolux IQ 8.0 cuft dryer smells like burning oil or grease when you run it. I just got it yesterday and have run 4 loads. It still stinks. My husband thinks this is normal. Is it?

From http://tedmalone.blogspot.com/2009/06/dryer-problem-solved.html

It turns out that the inlet vent in most dryers is louvered to mix in some outside air with the air being heated by the gas (~ 500 degrees F). In an effort to be more efficient, Electrolux removed these louvers and have not been able to lower the heat enough in their gas dryers to keep from burning clothes. Furthermore, it turns out there is a *new part* which if you're in-the-know you can order. It is the same part, but with the louvers back.

Dryer gives off a strong odor which make my clothes smell.

if you have been painting or staining recentley the chemicals in these products are mixing with the mercaptin in the gas to cause the odour. The problem will correct itself when the fumes are gone.

Stink Smell from Electric Clothes Dryer/Fuse Box

this should be quite easy to solve.remove the circuit breaker and sniff it. if it is the same smell you are getting when the dryer is running that is your problem.have an elecrtician check and replace with correct value.the dryer is most probably running on an overloaded circuit.
