Your connection has to be from the phone line to the router and then the router to your desktop. If you then have a laptop, then it needs to communicate wirelessly with the router. You also have to password secure it. Usually the IP provider will help set things up for you. You can call for technical assistance assuming it's a service oriented service. If you need more assistance, you have to explain further what the problem is. Sam

I just bought a laptop and I wanna connect to wifi how can I do it?

First you must understand that wi-fi only works within a certain distance from the wireless router. It's not like cellphone reception where the wireless provider installs cells throughout the countryside to make sure that you can get reception. You have to either get your own internet connection to your house and your own wireless router, and then you have to install the wireless router, or you have to go to a coffee shop or other establishment (public library?) that provides its patrons free wireless internet while they are on the premises. Once you do one of those two things, then (in Windows 7) you have to click on the network connection icon in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, then click on the name of the wireless network that you want to connect to and click "connect", and then if prompted, type in the network key for that network. After this, you should be connected to the internet wirelessly as long as you are within range of that wireless router.

I have the Sony KDL60EX700 and the Sony UWA-BR100 wireless adapter. The adapter see's my router and has a strong reception (5 bars) but fails on Local access and Internet access. What to do?

I have had this EXACT problem (same models). Turning off the router and letting it restart get the TV going.
Once it is up it will some time loose the internet, and I have to restart the router.
I am working with Sony Support one this issue.

How to hook wired router to cable box. What is WAN outlet

all of your computers should get hooked up in ports 1-4 and the WAN port should be hooked up to your broad band router from your internet service provider. so if your first computer is hooked up to port 1 just plug your second into port 2 and every thing will work fine.

I hope this helped.

Thank you,

I use a magic jack and my internet is high speed. I still get cracling noises. Someone suggested that I chagnge the channel on my router to get better reception. How do i do that?

changing the channel will only help (possibly) if the computer that the magicjack is hooked into is on the wireless network. If it's hardwired to your network - changing the channel won't matter. That being said, you need to log into your router to change the channel. Most likely, you have the defaul settings - so open up internet explorer and in the address bar, type and click enter - then enter the user id/pw for the router (default is user id "admin" and password is blank) - on the home tab of the wireless section, uncheck "auto select" for channel and set it to 11 (or whatever you'd like) Then save/close and you're done.

If you notice static on the magicjack still after that, then run magicfix from their website - here's the link >

good luck - hope this helps!!

Wireless internet

Wireless range is pretty much limited to router placement and type (802.11N has longer range than 802.11B/G) so if you want to increase your range/reception use and 802.11N PCMCIA Card and 802.11N router

Fast Flashing Light - no Internet connection

Well, i also had a wrt54g router.Generally that type of router is only for a networkwith one, two max wireless items. When the led light is flashing very fast, it means it is working very hard. You may need to get a stronger router such as the wrt300n which can handle up to about 10 items. By the way, netgear routers are generally stronger and longer lasting than linksys.
