Flash I broke my sisters flash, a Sunpak auto 821, on her Minolta X-370 camera. What flashes are compatible for this camera? I cannot find a Sunpak auto 821 on line. Thanks

BecRN,

take the camera to a good camera store and try any in your price range, the manual should state the camera's that are compatible. note that many new model flashes do not work on older camera's.

My pics come out half black when I use the X-370 flash

motley45

this happens when the shutter speed is not correct. set the speed to 1/60 sec.
if the X-370 flash is new it may not be compatible with your camera. with the flash turned on it should set the shutter speed automatically to either 1/60sec or 1/125sec. looking in the finder the shutter speed should not change to various amounts of light. if the shutter speed changes with the flash turned on it is not dedicated to your camera.

Added flash mount

LOLEE, I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH THAT FLASH, BUT I HAVE SOME GENERAL INFO THAT MIGHT HELP. FIRST, IS THIS FLASH USING THE CAMERA " HOT SHOE " MOUNT? IF IT IS, ARE YOU SURE THAT THE FLASH IS FULLY INSERTED IN THE HOT SHOE? NEXT, IS THIS FLASH COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR CAMERA? YOU SEE, SOMEHOW THE CAMERA IS NOT GETTING THE INFO THAT THE FLASH IS CONNECTED. I WOULD CHECK ALL CONNECTIONS TO BE SURE THEY ARE TIGHT. HOPE THIS GIVES YOU SOME IDEAS TO WORK ON. IF YOU NEED MORE HELP, JUST REPLY.

Auto Flash 200x doesnt work ???

CoolSmith,
try a non dedicated flash unit, if the flash works then the 200X is not compatible to the xg1
if the flash did not fire, there is a circuit problem. there are no new parts for this model.

Flash

You can't take off the attached flash. The camera body flash should not fire when you have a flash attached to the hotshoe on the camera. I don't know what kind of flash you are using, since you never said but I use Sunpak and Metz flashes. You can see if your flash is compatible with the N-65. If not, then you should look for one that is. Ritz sells Quantary flash units that have modules for Nikon cameras. They are great flashes for the money.
