Hi!

You'll need to configure the wireless settings of the laptop to work with the wireless router. These are the common settings that you'll need for it:

1. SSID (wireless signal from the router)
2. wireless security (WEP or WPA)

BTW, does the laptop detect the wireless signal being transmitted by the router?

Make sure your LAN card driver is installed on your computer and it is working properly.
Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to your computers LAN port.
Open a browser on your computer and enter the Netgear configuration URL

What is the best wireless router for my PS3? My Belkin N+ is giving me nothing but problems.

Use D-Link DIR-165. So far, installation is simple and the router management interface is so intuitive and easy to navigate.

Sorry if this seems a repeat question but I can not find the answer on here... I have a Netgear 54 Mbps wireless router WGR614v6. When I plugged it in, it does not have a wireless signal. Please note that...

for the laptop to detect the router you need to install the router's driver in you laptop and follow the instructions while installing since its a new laptop it always need to be configured.

NetGear Wireless Router and connecting using a USB Modem

I think you're saying that you want to set up a Netgear from a wirless port. Is that the ONLY computer you have?

It's not IMPOSSIBLE, but it is improbable. By default, the Netgear has the address 192.168.1.1. If nothing else on your network has that address, it might be possible to plug in the Netgear, set the IP address of your computer to 192.168.1.2-254, and link to 192.168.1.1.

I didn't say easy, just possible. Easy would be to use a computer with a wired ethernet port or grab a friend with a laptop with a wired port. It's a 15-minute job.

Unable to install Netgear wireless router

This does not seem to be a problem with your router, rather with the network adapter in your laptop.
  1. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Network adapters.
  2. Click the "+" sign to make it "-".
  3. What is listed? DO you see your wireless network adapter? If you see a yellow "!" or a red "x", that means it is not properly installed. Try to reinstall the driver.
If you need help with that, let me know. In that case I would need to know make and model of your computer.

Also: you don't have to install any software to connect to your router. This software is simply a help to setup the router. You can always type "www.routerlogin.com" in the address bar of your web browser and manage your router from there.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Netgear No Internet connected detected

Are you sure you have a PPPoE Modem? Usually these are DSL connections from Phone and Satellite ISP's... But there are also other ISP's that use them, although a very large percentage of ISP's just use DHCP. Try to set the router up using DHCP instead of PPPoE and see if that works...
To check if you are on the internet:
Start-> Run -> cmd [enter]
in the black box:
ping google.com [enter]

another useful command is:
ipconfig
