Question about Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop

Keyboard is not working properly

Hi,

I'm running this laptop with vista. Some of the keys do not work. I made sure there was no dust or any other object in the way, I've checked to make sure the drivers were up today. On occassion, the keyboard will work properly but more often than not the "n" "." "," won't work unless i use the cap lock.

I can type the letter in uppercase, then delete it, hold down the shift key again and will get lower case. But, I have to go thru this exercise every time i want to use a key that doesn't work properly.

Any advice?

Keyboard on Inspiron Mini 10 is not working right. Had chocolate spilled on it. How do I clean it.

Because laptops are portable, people tend to eat and drink over them. They lay the laptops on soiled surfaces and stuff them in dirty book bags. With all of the wear, tear and abuse that a laptop sustains, it's no wonder that the keyboard can become quite dirty. When a keyboard becomes dirty, often times the actual keys won't work. It is commonplace to find dirt, debris and food under the keys of a laptop computer. This causes the keys to not engage properly, rendering them useless.

1.Run a duster over the keys of your Dell laptop. This will remove any dust or small bits of debris that are causing your laptop keys to get stuck and not work. Test your keys once you have dusted them.

2.Spray the laptop keyboard with condensed air. Hold the air nozzle (you will often insert a small plastic tube into the nozzle) about 4 inches from the keyboard. Spray liberally, and use a back-and-forth motion while you work. This will remove most pieces of debris that may be stuck under the keys. Test the keys to see if they now work.

3.Place the tip of your flat-head screwdriver underneath the right-hand side of the key that is not working. Lift up gently and the key will pop off.

4.Dip the tip of your Q-tip into the rubbing alcohol and rub around the area where the key meets the keyboard. This will remove any final bits of dirt and debris. Allow the area to air dry. Repeat on as many keys as needed.

5.Place the loose key directly over the space where it belongs. Note the small piece of rubber. Hold the center of the key directly above the rubber piece and press down. When you hear a small clicking sound, the key is secure.

Asus K50IE FN+F2 does not work, my wifi is permanently turned off

Hi,

Just use an external keyboard to press Fn + F2. Either the Fn key or the F2 key is not working. Make sure that those keys are not stuck or no dust and any particles are accumulated under the key caps.

Hope this helps.

Examine your keyboard for any build-up of dust, dirt, liquids or other particles that could be causing the keys to type the wrong characters. Allow any loose dirt to fall out by inverting and shaking the keyboard lightly.
Confirm that your keyboard is set to the English language. Go to your control panel and click on the "Regional and Language Options" icon. If the setting appears to be in a foreign language, change it to English/U.S.
Check if your number lock key is on. If so, depress the key to disengage it.
Run a character key test by using the Microsoft Keyboard Diagnostics (MSKEY) program. While in the MSKEY program, hit several keys to make certain that they are the same keys that are identified in the MSKEY window. To start MSKEY in Windows Vista, select "All Programs>>Accessories>>Run" from the Start menu. Type "mskey" in the box and depress the "OK" button. Start MSKEY In Windows XP by clicking on "Run" from the Start menu. Type "mskey" in the Open box, then hit "OK." Depress either "PS/2" or "USB" to apply it to your type of keyboard hookup. MSKEY software is only available with Microsoft IntelliType version 1.1 or later.
Remember to clean your keyboard regularly to keep it free of dust and debris.
Don't disassemble the keyboard because it may affect the validity of your manufacturer warranty!

Replace the keyboard -- nobody "fixes" laptop keyboards, due to the lower cost of replacing it.

Hi the "F" keys on

Hi Friend, In this case I would recommend you to please try and connect any external keyboard to the laptop and check if the "F" key works from the external one
If it works it means that there is a need to replace the keyboard of the system If it still doesn't work then it means that there is a need to update the drivers for the system
NOTE: Please make sure that some dust is not stuck in the under the key

Download and run Ccleaner here:

Im using vista as my os. and my laptop is hp pavilion, both my control keys are not working. what should i do?

You might have changed settings of stickey keys

Check the setting in start- control panel- ease of access center- make keyboard easier to use.

Go to sticky keys -uncheck the box.

Also check the other settings in it.

It will resolve your issue.

If yes.. if not..you might need to remove the keyboard driver from device manager.

Hi there
Did you try to clean your keyboard with can air? Sometimes you get dust and lint under there and it will cause your key not to work right. Plus the spring under the key could be worn out also. But try the can of air first. Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year. I hope this get's you in the right direction. Let me know how it goes. Thank you for writing to fix ya.

Good day sir/maam. Hi, chances are that the keyboard part is dirty, dust and dirt do find there way inside. You may need to dissassemble the laptop and clean the contacts of your keyboard and visually check the unit. well to be safe bring it to your dealer and inquire about your laptop problem.
