SOURCE: Amilo Pro V2010 base removal

Hi
The inverter is in the laptop screen, not the base.
1 remove the screw covers and then the screws surrounding the laptop screen
2 gently prise the screen bezel away from the screen, best done when the laptop is opened out almost flat
3 the inverter is at the base of the screen, gently unscrew and unclip the inverter from the LCD screen
4 take replacing the inverter to make sure all the leads are safely housed

5 replace screen bezel and away you go

White screen on laptop

Long read ahead Naveen.

Check to see if the problem is the;

A) Graphics chipset,

Or;
B) Video Cable,

Or;
C) Screen Inverter,

(Not advertising, but on another note; you can buy the whole laptop for $50 USD,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Compaq-Presario-1700-14-1-Laptop-Pentium-lll-1GHz-256MB-CD-RW-DVD-Rom-20GB-HDD-/390534574226?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item5aedacb092 )

A) Graphics chipset:

Laptop OFF, monitor OFF, connect a VGA monitor to the VGA port on the back of the laptop.
This is an example of a VGA connector (port), and VGA cable,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_Connector

Scroll down a little for VGA cable example.
You can use a CRT type monitor (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor of it has a VGA cable.

Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type allow it to warm up.
Turn the laptop on.
By factory default settings, the display should show on the external VGA monitor.
IF not:

There are at least 3 display options;
1) Internal monitor of laptop ONLY
2) Internal monitor of laptop AND external VGA monitor
3) External VGA monitor ONLY

Press, and hold the Fn key down, and at the same time tap once on the F3 key. The F3 key is the Display Toggle-Over key.
Still no?
Hold the Fn key down again, tap once more on the F3 key.

A good display on the external VGA monitor means the graphics chipset is OK.
A white screen on the external VGA monitor, means a problem with the graphics chipset. More than likely the Mounting to motherboard, of the graphics chipset. (BGA surface mount)
If this is the problem post back in a Comment.

A good display on the external VGA monitor, means the problem is the Video Cable; or inside the Display Assembly.
(Screen Inverter or LCD screen)

B) Video Cable:

The Video Cable plugs into the motherboard, in an area under the LED Button Bezel, and right next to the Left HINGE.

[LED Button Bezel is the strip of plastic below the LCD screen, and above the Keyboard. Has LED indicator lights in it, etc ]

It then leads up into the Display Assembly, where a small separate cable connects to one side of the screen Inverter, and the rest of the cable connects to the Back of the LCD screen.

Just due to normal repeated opening, and closing of the laptop; the Video Cable may become pinched.
This allows it to be pulled on, and/or damaged.
(Stretched/broken wires)

ALL power removed, AC adapter (Charger), and Battery; the connections for the Video Cable should be checked.
Motherboard side, screen Inverter connection, and LCD screen side.

Motherboard side connection:
1) Remove the LED Button Bezel.

Two screws (Philips) are removed from the bottom of the laptop, and the LED Button Bezel is CAREFULLY pried up, and off.

Details are in Page 91 in the Service Manual, which I will include at the last of this solution.
I will refer to the page number from now on, for the specific component removal.

2) Remove the Keyboard. Page 93.

I state remove, but do NOT unplug the Keyboard Cable from motherboard connector. Just unfasten the Keyboard, roll LCD screen side towards you, and lay upside down on the Palm Rest Cover.

You MUST physically check the connection for tightness. Try to plug it in tighter.

LCD screen side connection:

Disassembly of the Display Assembly, is not shown in the Service Manual. (At least I couldn't find it)
REMOVAL of Display Assembly is.
So I will guide you step by step. I do not believe the Display Assembly has to be removed, in order to remove the Display Bezel.

The plastic frame in front of the LCD screen is the Display Bezel.
Looks like this removed,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/COMPAQ-PRESARIO-1700-14-1-LCD-FRONT-COVER-BEZEL-/320720203233?pt=US_Laptop_Screens_LCD_Panels&hash=item4aac69ede1

From what I can see, there are four Philips head screws to remove, from the Display Bezel.
There is a Screw Cover at the Top Left, and Top Right to remove.
The is a Screw Cover at the Bottom Left, and Bottom Right to remove also.

The Screw Covers are made of synthetic rubber, or plastic.
I use a computer pick, and lift up at the base of the Screw Cover, where it meets the Display Bezel.

The Screw Covers are held in place by a type of rubber cement.
If you are careful you may be able to reuse them. If they don't stick again, apply a TINY dab of rubber cement with a toothpick.
I LIGHTLY stick them to the Display Bezel for safekeeping.

Remove the 4 Philips head screws. (No.1 Philips screwdriver, or No.1 Jewelers Philips screwdriver)

The Display Bezel has TABS going around the exterior perimeter, of the inside edges.
The Display Cover has matching LATCHES that the Tabs snap into.

I suggest cut a piece of thick construction paper, to JUST FIT the inside edges of the Display Bezel, and lay on LCD screen.
(Display Assembly laid as far back as possible)
This will protect the LCD screen from your fingernails.

The bezel is flexible. Come to the inside edge (LCD screen side), of the right side of the Display Bezel.
Lift the edge up with a fingernail, until you can slide a fingertip underneath.
Can't get in? Move over. You are at a Tab/Latch.

Bezel lifted up with one fingertip slid under, move over with the other hand, and slide a fingertip under. Flex the bezel up a little, and move towards the Top.
By now you should hear a Tab/Latch snap loose.
Sounds like you are breaking something.

(Do use CARE! The bezel can be broken, but not if you are gentle, and go slow)
Keep popping the Tabs/Latches loose, going around the Top, then Left side. By the time you come around the Left side, the entire Display Bezel should pop loose.

(At the TOP. You may have to slide the Latch over to the open side, to get the slot in the Display Bezel to clear, if a Latch is used)

Not your laptop, and uses more screws. Just a basic 'hands-on' guide I thought may help,

Removing lid lock switch on cabrio washer

Hi
To get to the lid lock you must raise the cover To raise the top you unscrew the top screws in the back, ( the ones that hold the smaller galvanized piece of sheet metal behind the control panel). There is also two clips on the sides of the back with 2 screws in each, remove the top ones. You should be able to slide the cover forward while lifting. It will hinge on the 2 clips. Then prop the cover to keep it open. Under the cover are 2 screws that hold on the latch. Under the cover towards the back there are 2 spring clips that hold down the top user control panel. Squeeze them to release the panel. Follow the wire from the latch to the motor control module and unplug the plug. Remove the latch. Reverse to reinstall a new one.

Archos 5 60GB media player Audio Jack has bad solder connections

First pry out the small rubber feet in the plastic end covers. There are three of them. The plastic cover near the fold out leg can be fully removed by unscrewing the two screws, one expossed by the leg being folded out and the other exposed by the rubber feet being removed. Remove the other two screws from the second plastic cover, do not try to remove this cover. The display metal cover has three small holes along the side. Using a push pin press in each hole releasing the well designed integral spring latch at each location. You may hear them click as they release. Small rubber pads inside the assembly help separate the covers as they are unlatched. The display cover with display will lift straight up off the latches but just enough to be able to hinge it on the flex connection to one side. You will have to rest it against something as you repair any broken solder connections of the audio jack.

When closing up the Archos case do everything in reverse order from the above explanation. A helpful hint is to lay the Archos on a flat surface and slowly guide the display cover onto the latches so they just slip evenly inside, watching to insure the connector baffle and power button also slip inside the cover. When everything looks evenly engaged you can press the cover compressing the rubber pads and latching the metal covers together. replace the screws, plastic cover and rubber feet and your done.

Hp laserjet 6l pulling more paper through than it should. new roller not available?

Thanks to Dewaine Chan for providing these instructions on how to get at the separation pad
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=964548&admit=109447626+1263780058294+28353475

1). Open the printer cover and remove the Toner cartridge. Remove the two silver screws at the top of the printer (One on each side).
2). Remove the three screws holding the Back cover piece. Pull the back Paper Guide in the Up position. Use a small flat head screw driver to loose to two latches through the opening. After that, you will need to use the same screw driver to loose the latches holding the back cover in place. There are at least two at each side.
3). Remove the back cover after you have released all the latches.

4). Turn the printer over and remove the memory slot cover by press on the latch.

5). Open the front cover. There are two latches (one at each corner) at the front bottom. You need to gently release them. After that, you should be able to slide the cover upward and off.

6). At the right side toward the top, you will see a spring clip pushing a white latch in place. Use the needle nose to remove it.

7). Use the needle nose to slightly pull the white color latch and turn it counter clock wise to release it. Please note how it is put in place. Pull it out after you have unlatched it.

8). Move to the left side. Press on the two latches to remove the Clutch gear assembly and slide it out. Please note this assembly has two unequal slots.

9). Now you have freed up the Pick Up roller assembly, you need to slide this assembly out from the right side first. Fiddle with it a bit to get it out.

10). Pull the paper guide up upward to remove it.

11). Push on the Kick plate to release it and then swing it upward to slide it out be careful not to loose the spring.

12). Unlatch the separation pad clip from the back and lift it up.

13). Unlatch the Separation Pad and get it up to remove it. Replace it with the new one.

14). Use a small flathead screw driver to remove the two sub pads and replace them with new one.

15). Do everything in reverse order.

I read an on another post to use cork gasket material and double sided tape to replace the pad, and this worked great. You can buy a roll at autozone for about $6. I didn’t do the small pads, that is optional.

2000 Toyota Sienna tailgate door will not open/broken handle

I hope I can help, I had the same problem on my 2001. I called the dealership and they said 375.00 + parts to fix. Being mechanically inclined I decidet to try it myself. Please understand, this is not exact, but is a pretty good guide. To open from the outside, make sure doors are unlocked(mine relocked after a minute or so) place a screwdriver, long and thin, into the slot that the handle passes through the door on the right side. Raise the handle of the driver, and you should be pressing down on a cable that operates the latch. the door should release. If you cant do that, from the inside, remove the two side trim pieces. Then remove the inner door panel, One screw under plastic cap on handle, one under cap on strap... and pop off all plastic buttons(hidden) between the door and cover, a 1" putty knife will work for this. You will see the cable that used to connect to the handle. Remove the cable by pulling it through the slot(apparent when you get to it) and now remove the two screws that hold the handle on. Also, you have to remove a screw from the passengers side of the cover plate over the handle. the plate will slide(not sure which way now), and it will come off. replace the handle and etc..... inreverse.. Took me 25 minutes, start to finish. Further questions, let me know. remember, mine was 2001 Sienna.
