I have a Fujifilm xD 2GB card that gives me the same error when I insert it into the SanDisk card reader. I can't copy anything to my docs or anything. When it tries to copy I get the same error - 'the disk in drive 'x' is not formatted'. Now what?

Copy the pictures to the computers drive, prefferably to MY PICTUREs on my documents. Then Go to the SD Drive and right click and Format! as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Hi, i plugged in my SD card on the tv and it played perfectly. Now i wanted to download the photos on my computer but it says its corrupted. BTW i have Panasonic SD HC 16 GB

There must be some eject/remove procedure on the tv that you didn't use....you probably just pulled out the card. The problem is by not using the procedure, the tv was still accessing the data on the card. Pulling it out corrupted it. You may be able to get the pics off of it by using a picture kiosk machine at your nearest Walmart store. If successful, you can get your card working again by formatting it in the camera to completely erase it and optimize it for the camera's operating system.

We took our 512 mb SD Card out of our camera to download some of the pictures to a digital picture frame. When we return the SD Card to the camera amessage appears "memory card requires formatting. I know...

You can either use a separate card reader to download to your computer, or , take the card to a Walmart store and insert the card into a Kodak Picture Kiosk machine and print the pics or make a cd of them. Then, format the card in the camera.

(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)

I'd like a new SD chip, since mine is full and all the chips I find in stores such as Target and Walmart are SD-HC which doesn't fit in my camera. Is it true that I need a 'plain' SD chip and not one that...

Let me see if I understand what you're saying...your memory card is full so you want to buy another one? Why are you leaving your pics on the card? They will become corrupted over time and you could lose them. Why not download them to your computer and then, format the card in the camera to completely erase it for a fresh start. As to whether you can use an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card, you'll have to check your camera's owner's manual.

Cant get pictures off camera

You need recovery software to access the pictures.
This is free for private use:
http://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/info.htm?language=1

You can't use the software with the camera directly, so you also need a card reader that can read XD or SD/HC cards, depending on which type of memory card you are using in the camera.
Install the software on your computer, connect the card-reader to the computer, put the memory card in the card-reader and run the program. Follow the instructions in the program.
When images are successfully downloaded to the computer, you will have to format the card in the camera.

Memory card says it needs to be formatted but i have pics on it and I need them..please help I will be waiting!

I had the same problem with my 4Gb card that has 750 photos on it. I tried doing different things, however, it did not work. At last I took the card out and blew on its chips, gave it a good shake and put it back. Then, the miracle happened. It could read all my photos. I guess there was some dust that had accumulated on the chips at the back of the card. Hope it can help you, too.
