Fault code F85: Slide shutter signal change fault.

Defective shutter system, inside circulation pump. Circulation pump needs to be replaced.

  • Miele_Man Nov 21, 2010

The slide shutter, which is part of the circulation pump, alternates water supply to the spray arms. The slide shutter moves back and forth to open or close water paths to the different spray arms. For 30 sec. both the top and bottom spray arms are supplied and during the next 30 sec. the middle spray arm only. A sensor monitors the movement of the slide shutter. If no movement is detected, the dishwasher faults out with an F85.

An experienced technician may attempt to open and inspect for foriegn item(s), jamming the slide shutter, but if nothing is found, then the shutter system is defective. The circulation pump will need to be replaced, unfortunately. Last I knew (months ago), the slide shutter system was not available seperately. But I will check again for the latest.

My Frigidaire FFBD2406NB7B dishwasher stops mid cycle, high temp and heat dry lights are flashing, does not drain completely.

Hi Vince!

Your owners manual should tell you what that pair of flashing lights mean, but I suspect it is because the system that detects water level has become clogged with debris and the DW is telling you it refuses to proceed without an accurate water level reading.

Level measurement systems vary but are usually in a float chamber on the side of the unit. Search for an "exploded" view (usually available at part supplier sites) for more 411.

I have Meile G1220 SC Dishwasher and it comes up with F84 and That seems to be the drain when I get that right it comes up F85. Not sure what that means. Can you help.

disconnect the pump and check for a blockage in your pump assembly or the drain hose itself the error refers to a shutter on the pump either being blocked or not opening if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations in the future Thanks Rick

Pl refer user manual. In general flashing light may mean : no water flow, salt chamber empty, door not closed etc. It all depends on the error code message designed.assigned by the manufacturer.

Miele dishwasher had F85 on the screen

On that model to save water and energy water is sent to bottom and middle spray arms alternately. This is done via a shutter in the circulation motor. F85 mean this shutter is jammed,Most likely with debris,But is possible motor is faulty

F1 coming up on screen

You must be having F1 code flashing on door display of one of the drawers of your dishwasher.

This means the flood switch has been activated. Check if there is water inside the dishwasher (turn power off at the mains supply to your dishwasher).

If water is there then empty with a small container and try to run the dishwasher again (turn power on first). If the problem repeats, then you may not be able to do much but call the technician. The water level sensor that tells the dishwasher to stop taking water might have failed.

Try to clean the filter plate and drain filter if you have not done it for a while. The user guide tells you how to do this.

Good Luck
