Hi..
First of all take off your battries and then turn it on again. Then you must scan your computer with a good and updated anti-virus and anti-malwarebyte.

How do I get the "logging off" screen off? Until I do that I cannot run McAfee.

  • Subhankar Ghosh Oct 05, 2010

I belive it is laptop. If yes then take off your battery ,it will teke off your logginf off screen then turn it on after few time and then scan it properly

  • ahedg Oct 05, 2010

Yes it is a laptop. Do you mean actually remove the battery from the underside of the computer? Do I need to turn the computer off, unplug it etc? The manual says data will be lost if the computer is in sleep or hibernation mode. Is it?

  • Subhankar Ghosh Oct 05, 2010

Yes i mean to say that take off the battries and again put it back. Then turn it on.One more thing i would like to know what exactly you can see on the computer. And since when you are getting the logging off screen

  • ahedg Oct 05, 2010

I have had the logging off screen since I tried to shut down the computer last night. We turned it off and unplugged it overnight. This morning the screen came back the same. We can see the Windows Vista coloured screen with the Logging Off sign in the middle, and the rotating blue circle.

  • Subhankar Ghosh Oct 05, 2010

Ok..just remove the battery and try to shut down once again and see what you are getting?

Need to unlock the password

There are three types of passwords:
BIOS, WINDOWS LOG-ON and E-Mail. Be more specific.
Just so you know, BIOS, just remove the CMOS battery for about 1 minute. Windows Log-on, forget about it. Your screwed. And e-mail, click the "Forgot My Password" link in the sign on screen. Lots of luck!

Toshiba Sattelite PRO L300 telling me checking file system C one of disks needs to be checked However it then says an error has occured and won't leave this screen !

Press F8 and choose command prompt. You may have to use a boot disc if you can't get c prompt.
Type cmd ENTER. From the Command Prompt type chkdsk /r/f ENTER. R and F are redundant for repair and fix, but does not hurt.

Sounds like a driver issue with the touch pad. You should try and reinstall the driver.

Toshiba L300 screen flickers and backlight

Maybe is the backlight power cable cut. Try with the laptop in power on mode oppening VERY SLOWLY the screen to see if at a certain potition it works fine. Open it all the way up sometimes to check it. If thre is a potition that it works, it's the cable as I mentioned.
