Will not stop when switched back to the vertical or ready (off) position it then pumps out all of its watter on the counter top.

No suction through base, only through hose attachment on top


Look for a short vertical hose on the RH side of the machine, about 9" from the floor. There is a circular perspex disc mechanism that moves this hose to a different position when you pull out the wand. On your machine, this hose may be stuck in that different position (so it will **** only through the wand). It should flick back to the other (outer) position when the wand is replaced (where it will **** only through the base). Put a little silicone grease on the moving parts around the perspex disc. This worked for me.

New replacement pump on Bissell ProHeat Protech not working


Not sure if I have the same model but this is what I found on mine this morning - wire to switch in the handle came off. Un-plug power cord. Unscrew top two screws on upright handle and remove the front cover above the trigger. see if wires are connected. top connector is not used - if you do solution will spray all the time. Good luck!

The unit does not put any watter on the carpet and when I push the triger the red spinner does not move. The tank is full of hot watter


Hello,

This sounds like your pump brush belt is broken in your Bissell. The belt controls the pump in the machine, as well as the brushes. This would be explain why the solution is not spraying, as well as why the red spinner on the top of the machine is also not spinning.

Pump needs replacing


I have the Bissell Big Green model 1672 and have used it for many years. Recently, the fan or suction blower began to emit a burnt smell so I shut it off. I had difficulty figuring out how to dissemble the top motor unit. Here is what I found.

Don't pry up on the very top disk, which is an air outlet. It will only break off and won't allow access to anything. If you do break it off, drill holes through the four posts and use stainless steel screws to re-attach the disk to the plastic posts it sits on.

Now, beneath the air outlet is the rest of the motor unit. The motor unit consists of three pieces. The bottom piece is the lid to the waste water receptacle. It is concave pointing down (lid shaped). The top piece is the domed lid for the motor unit. The middle piece is a flat plate between the other two pieces. The top of the flat plate (inside the unit) has mountings for the suction fan and the pump.

The flat plate is bolted to the bottom piece and the top piece (domed lid) is simply snapped down to the flat plate. If you take a flashlight and look inside the area where the AC cord is stored, you can see that the domed lid is a distinct piece from the flat plate. The model 1672 and 1680 (or 1680-3 if you wish) are nearly identilcal.

To access the internal parts in the motor unit, you cannot pry between bottom piece and the the flat plate because they are bolted together. But you can remove the top domed lid. To remove the domed lid, position the motor unit in front of you with the switches at 9 o-clock. Three snap-downs which attach the domed lid to the flat plate are at 1 o'clock, 2:30, and 7 o'clock. Wedge a flat bladed screwdriver or pocketknife between the edge of the domed lid and the flat plate at those locations and the lever the domed lid out and then up. The domed lid will separate from the bolted-together flat plate and bottom piece.

Wiring from the switches remain attached to to the electrical components. You will see that the AC cord has white, black, and green wires. The green ground wire connects to the fan ground at the 9 o'clock position. The white power connects to upper connector on the pump and also to the fan at the 7:30 position. Black feeds both switches on model 1672 and then a black wire runs from the correct switch to the bottom connector on the pump or to the connector on the fan at the 1:30 position.

Model 1680 has a third switch which feeds power to the floor sweeper. It has its own connection to the green ground and white power and goes through the third switch to connect to black.

How are the two top sections held together? I need to get at the wiring.

Pump will not run


You will need to disassemble the top motor unit and try putting power directly to the pump. The switch may be bad, the connections may be dislodged, or you may need to replace the pump. I am reading your question and I assume that you cannot hear the pump kick on (low thrumming sound).

I assume that yours is the same as the Bissell model 1672.

Bissell Big Green Machine Model 1672 will not pump cleaning liquid


have a Bissell Big Green 1672, the older canister model. Went crazy trying to figure out how to get to the pump. Finally figured it out. The top green "shell" covers the motor & pump and is separate from the "grey" plastic housing. Using a screw driver, insert it between the small gap between the top "shell" and the housing. If you look at it with it laying down on the top, you will see the small 1/4" gap. Gently pry in between the two and work your way around. It will start to lift up and then you can easily work your way around and it will pop off exposing the motor and pump. Note that the wires to the on/off & pump switches will sill be attached to the top shell. If you take them off note where they came from and make sure they are all on when you put the top back on. I have had my Green Machine for years, what a work horse! To bad they don't make them anymore, the new ones that replaced them just don't have the same durability and power as the older Green Machines.

Scooba doesn't put watter. Pump not working?


I calledthe company and they told me to forcefully flush warm water repeatedly through the valve that is just  above  the brush release button the the mechanical part  of the scooba.  It may take 20 or 30 flushes (I used a turkey baster, iRobot suggested a children's nasal syringe) and "Scooby" is  running great.
