Question about Posiflex AURA 7000 Thermal Printer

Open Question

Posiflex XP2012H 1. What printer emulation can I code for the printer - I have previously coded my POS printing work for Epson TML II - worked very well. 2. How can I identify the embedded printer in terms of name, E.g. Epson, etc. and what model (for research purposes). 3. Is there any VB6 sample code demonstrating the control codes for this printer? Go back to where you got it and tell then either to provide the driver or take it back. Your windows already told you that it has NOT the driver for that device.

Epson UB-U03II not working

I had huge issues with my TM-U220. It does not play well with a Centronix-to-USB cable or with Windows 64-bit. I played for AGES to try and get it all to work.

I installed the USB device driver[1] I was able to print the Test Page proving that the connection between Windows and the printer sort of worked, but when I tried printing anything from Unicenta POS, it always failed.

I finally bought a new Centronix-to-USB and a new parallel port card, used Windows 32-bit, and problem solved.

They key is to uninstall everything, including searching through the Registry to delete everything.

Heap over flow error

The "Heap Over Flow" error indicates you are basically running out of memory to store graphics commands before a command to print data is issued.
The solution is
1) Windows Printing.
A) Ensure the printers EMULATION setting matches the printer driver uses.
B) If using the T6050 printer driver ensure you have the correct lavel of firmware. The later version of printer driver need to have the latest T6050 firmware installed in the printer.
C) Consider setting the printer EMULATION to EPSON FX then install the EPSON FX100 driver on the Windows Box
Or
Install the IBM Proprinter XL24 driver on the Windows Box and set the printer EMULATION to IBM Proprinter
Using either of these two compatible drivers will 'side step' issues caused by printer firmware / drinter driver compatibility issues as it may be difficult to obtain suitable firmware or drivers due to the age of this device.

2) If you are coding the escape commands yourself you need to check these as they are incorrect if this error is seen

LQ 300 +2 auto pause during printing

This is a feature provided by the manufacture to protect the print head overheat for small dot matrix printers. Here giving printer head connection diagram, the last two row have temperature sensing (thermister) connection pin 1 to 1. If the thermister is faulty in the print head the printer will auto pause abnormally. Check the printer with compatible / EPSON recommended print head. These kind of small printer only for POS printing not for continues printing. 2_17_2012_8_31_04_am.jpg

I would suspect the problem with the field at the top right of the page is being printed incorrectly because the printer receiving an escape command (control code) the printer either does not recognize or performs a wrong function on the 2280+.
If the printer was printing correctly and has suddenly started printing incorrectly it may be best to investigate what has changed ie have any of the following changed;
  • Printer driver or setup on the host computer system
  • Connectivity method
  • Printer settings may have been changed (check the emulation setting)

If the printer is a new setup and has not yet printed this document correctly it may be worth doing the follwing;

  1. If the printer is connected via the parallel interface (either directly to a computer system or via an external print server ) disable Cx-Bid
  2. If you know which driver or type of escape commands are used on the computer system ensure the emulation setting on the printer matches the host system.
  3. If you are not sure of the system setup perhaps try setting IBM for the emulation setting.
  4. If the above actions do not rectify the problem and you are able to select drivers etc on the host system ensure the 2280+ driver (or a compatible Epson or IBM driver is used ie either Epson LQ2550 or IBM ProPrinter XL24)
Further to this it may be nessesary to investigate the data file being recived by the pritner, by performing a hexdump to identify the cause of the problem and also identify a suitable soluion.

Im using a windows 98 SE OS and using Epson LX-300+ii and when i try to print either from MS-DOS or Windows the output is still garbage. need help

I'd check the printer emulation. One of the choices in the printer's internal menus is which kind of printer commands it uses. In this case, the choice is between Epson's own "ESC/P" commands or the IBM 2380's.
Find the instructions under "Using the Control Panel" in the manual, which you can download here.
Another possibility is a bad cable. A USB cable will probably either work fine or not at all, but a parallel or serial cable could have one broken wire inside and cause the printer to put out garbage.

If the print test works, then that rules out cables, etc. Definitely sounds like a comm setting issue. The most common problem with swapping serial printers is incorrect baud rate. Is that winpos from quest in Aus? I think they might use 9600 baud. You change the printer baud rate using the dipswitches under the panel on the bottom of the printer.
