It seems that your computer may be overheating if the computer is sleeping it should have a slow blink..... and unplugging it will reset that try adding more thermal grease cleaning dust off of heat sink blow the computer out and leave case open to see if it still freezes

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have an emachine T2642 desktop and I need to replace the battery. Where is the location to replace the battery

A desktop machine does not have a battery, only a power supply. Unless you are talking about the motherboard battery which is located on the motherboard inside the desktop, but if that is the case I highly suggest having someone at a local shop swap out your battery. Making a mistake could ruin the motherboard.

Old emachine T2642 will not boot...disk monitor LED stays on and CPU fan does not rotate...no boot access to CD-ROM, or disk drives...changed power supply...think it might be BIOS backup battery...

It sounds like a dead motherboard. Try removing the CMOS(BIOS) battery and replacing it. Then try removing and replacing the CPU as well. If you get the same result then you might be looking at replacing the motherboard.

Can't Get Online

System restore wouldn't have helped
what you need to do is figure out if the Ethernet port is working.
take it to a shop and have them look at it
it's probably a broken or damaged plug

Emachines T2642 Motherboard

It's either a dead power supply or a fried motherboard. Emachines are cheap junk, their power supplies and motherboards die all the time, just look around here on Fixya for proof. Instead of saving a buck, consider buying a better brand.

I have an Emachine T2642.hears a pop and the power went out on pc

As long as your hard drive didnt go, you will still have all of your files. Chances are your Motherboard blew. Motherboards have capacitors so they can make popping noises if they blow
