Thanks-it is reading "deno" I mentioned the model number-it is ME645M and despite hours of searching I cannot find a manual on the internet.
I suspect that the heat from the self cleaning mode on built in oven which is located directly below may have caused the problem. It is not working at all and is only one and a half years old.

First of all it is reading DEMO and not working? If so it is possible that the controller unit is displaying the program settings but has errors on the main program controller unit. You can try and see after opening the cover to trace the fault. Atttempt only if you are competent to do so and with proper tools.

If there is no action please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is faulty, the temperature cut off is faulty or the main capacitor is short. It is also quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. When you switch on these will create a short and make the voltage jump and in the long run damage the magnetron.
So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off.
Make sure that the program controller is working if not check power - fuse .step down supply( trans former or SMPS), the pads are responding- if not faulty pads- or the door switches, if contact is not through the microwave will not work.

Now keeping clear of the microwave, switch on, use a cup of water inside to test.
If you notice any sparks shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. replace with same type.
If there is heating without any issues, you can use the microwave safely

Since your model was not specified a general fault finding tip was provided, but please respond after checking this out..

Error message econ

I appreciate your post, friend!

Based off the information you have provided your Electrolux built in microwave is displaying an error code of "ECON". I am showing that this is an invalid error code. I would recommend you perform a reset on your microwave and you can do that by disconnecting the power cord for roughly ten minutes. If that does not help correct your issue I would suggest contacting a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. This will help you avoid any unnecessary part purchases. -Matt

Sounds like a wiring problem, take off of course with no power and check it out. No harm if no power, and replace wire and or componet with same.

How to set clock

Try these combinations:

Clock > 1 > 2 > 3 > Clock

Clock > 1 > 2 > 3 > Start

Clear > Clock > 1 > 2 > 3 > Clock

Clear > Clock > 1 > 2 > 3 > Start

If that doesn't work, contact the dealer you got it from and ask them for contact information for Brandt.
