Depending on the cd player, it should be labled "constant", "battery", or "memory". the common color is yellow or sometimes orange. some radios use red, but red is usually the "switched" or ignition power source. hope this helps. dave

Difficulty wiring into GM harness

well if your trying to actively wire it up with the car battery still connected that is why you are blowing fuses. just a heads up too if you have a live connection while hooking up the cd player you could short out other electrical devices and you could be in alot more trouble thatn just blowing fuses. the black wire is what is blowing fuses its because you have it hooked up wrong to a wire that is sending voltage not recieving voltage. ground the black wire to the actual chassis instead of hooking it to the ground wire from the harness or whatever color its grounded to which shouldnt be anything but black if you have the black wire hooked up to ANYTHING that isnt black that is why you are popping fuses. so hook up the red yellow and make your own ground you shouldnt have any problems after that.

WIRING CHANGE FOR 2002 DODGE CARAVAN

Your best bet on that one is to go to a place that sells car audio systems or even some autoparts retailers have them, and get the proper adapter harness already made up. A few more dollars but, a whole lot less headaches.

Tail and dashboard fuse keeps blowning

unhook black wire from harness and the ground from pioneer unit install the ground wire from pioneer unit to frame of car (you may need extra wire to do this) make sure the black wire from pioneer unit is bolted to frame of car not to the harness black wire........fuses will no longer blow and you will have your lights.
hope this helped

Kenwwod Cd Player

there is a wire on the harness (pink or brown i think) called cell phone mute. if this wire is touching power or ground or any other wires you will have these problems. make sure this wire is taped off and secured behind the dash.

If it was hooked up intentionaly it will mute your stereo anytime a call comes in on a cell phone.
