When you turn on your computer you will see options like esc, f1 and f10 at the bottom of the screen, when that appears press the f8 key and options will be shown, use arrows to go to safe mode and then press enter, that will start it in safe mode, you will not see the f8 option but you need to press it, if doesn't work try keeping it pressed until it comes up, after the black screen with withe words shows you only have 25 second to choose safe mode and press enter...

SOURCE: Computer will not boot up.
check for viruses in the system, it corrupts system boot up files, take time to load the os to normal mode, else repair the os, using bootable cd, it works.

You need to repair your windows xp installation.
Insert the xp install cd and power off - then power on your pc.
If the screen says "press any key to boot from cd" then do that.
It takes a while until you get to choose options.
Choose the repair previous installation option by pressing the R key when prompted.
Follow the instructions on the screen and you should be fine.
