No usually the power board and the inverter board are different boards. there are cheap brands that are all in one. so if you only have one board inside the back cover then the answer may be yes, however the power board (section of the main pcb board that supplies power ) is distinctly separated due to heat and has several large capacitors in its section.

any cap domed or with leakage (color) from the creases indicates bad cap. you cab Google the "capacitor blown image" and that should help you. be very careful and unplug the unit before investigating internal issues.

I have a Hisense 50h5g 50" tv, I have sound but a black screen it passed the flashlight test so I do have a picture just no backlight Iv replaced the power, tcon, and main boards, still have same prob

If the back light is CCFl type; check and replace all CCFL lamps and back light inverter board.
Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Sanyo flat screen model #DP46849 @7 years old. When first turned on, the picture is dark, kind of blurry on right half of screen. This all goes away as the TV warms up. Any ideas?

In some models of LCD TVS; the backlight inverter and its T'Con board will be a part of the panel itself, and will be a built-in type inside the LCD panel. If so, they can't be replaced. In this case; a panel replacement is the only repair. For some other models, the backlight inverter section circuit will be a part of the main power supply regulator [SMPS]. To such sets, the power supply section circuit too should trouble shoot. Contact any service technician. The circuit will differ with models and versions.
If the back-light is provided with CCFL lamps [not LED}; replace the CCFL lamps.

My screen only flashes the akai startup screen and then goes black again

Could be several things,

you could have a faulty inverter, bad CCFL back lamp, faulty 24vdc circuit, or a HV short to ground @ inverter output

My lcd tv i purchased 4 years ago is in pure black light, i cant see the picture anymore but i can only hear the audio. what seems to be the problem? thanks

Sir this problem has two possibilities the CCFL or cold cathode fluorescent lamp is already damage or the inverter board is not getting 24 volts supply. Try to check the power supply or use a digital tester to test if there is 24 volts supply to the inverter board if there is a a 24 volts then the CCFL is already faulty or your inverter board is faulty. To be sure try to check also the CCFL if both ends have a burn marks replace it but if no burns, the inverter board is the problem, but be careful when checking this inverter board because it is producing a high voltage and can cause serius injury. If you are not handy in electronic trouble shooting I suggest that you should contact a service technician to do it for you and save you from stress good day and best regards.

Black band across bottom of screen

hi,
Is the black band is about one two inch thick have to check the back light section of your lcd tv. All lcd tvs have back light to illuminate the pixels. Two types of back lighting are there CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent Lamp) and LED. In your tv its CCFL. CCFL need high voltage 1000V or above . For providing this high voltage there is inverter stage ( back light inverter). Also there will be 12 or more CCFL behind the lcd screen. If any on of there CCFL failed the there will come a gray bar noticeable only when there is hight light.

There will be two causes for this problem.
1. CCFL is faulty.
2. The inverter transformer driving CCFL is faulty.

You have to check the inverter fist. For conforming which one is faulty do the following.
There is independent connection for every two CCFL from the inverter board. Try interchange the two nearest connection. And watch is the line is shifting or not after every interconnection. You have to try by interchanging all the nearest to connections for CCFL.

If the line shifted then the inverter board is faulty. If the line stays there then the CCFL is faulty. Normally there will be problem with inverter transformer. If the transformer is faulty then you have to replace the inverter board as a whole.
ok

hi, Your tv has problem with its back light inverter stage. All LCD TV have back light to illuminate the pixels. There are two types of back lighting CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) and LED. In your tv its ccfl. As it is ccfl it need a high voltage above 1000v. To provide such a high voltage there will be an inverter stage in all lcd tv with ccfl back lighting. Normally in LCD tvs there will be three boards such as Mother board , Back light inverter board, and power supply. In your tv the ccfl back light inverter stage is faulty. There will in inverter transformers in the inverter board. As it is high voltage transformer there is possibility of its winding get shorted. If so it will drain a high current from the power supply and the protection circuit will shut down the voltage to the inverter board. check the inverter board first. Also there is possibility of bad electrolytic capacitors in the inverter board will lead to this type of problem. First of all check the supply voltage from the power supply to the inverter board. Change the electrolytic capacitors in the inverter board and in the power supply stage. If the problem is not rectified then you have to replace the inverter board. ok

Tv flickers off and on

Hi,
You have to check the back light inverter of your lcd tv. In all lcd tvs there are back lights to illuminate the pixels. There are two types of back lighting in use . CCFL ( cold cathode fluorescent lamp) and LED (light emitting diode). In you your tv it will be CCFL. If it is CCFL then it need an inverter (voltage step up circuit) for getting its working voltages. Normally it will produce above 1000V in low current. In the inverter circuit there will be inverter transformers. If the winding of the transformer get shorted then the inverter will drain a high current from the power supply. If so then the current sensing circuit senses the same and it will shut down the power supply. That's why it do the cycle ON an OFF repeatedly.
Just check the inverter board. Normally there will be three circuit boards in LCD TV. Mother board, SMPS (switch mode power supply) and inverter board. In some tvs the SMPS and inverter bord will com-pained as one board. you have to check the inverter transformers. there will be 4 or 6 inverter transformers. if available replace the inverter board as a whole.
Also check the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. if any of the capacitor seems like one that in the picture, then replace the same and then only go for the inverter board

50 in taschba projection tv about 12 yrs old power light on but no pictyre thanks

Hello,
Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.
If they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.if otherwise,
The TV have a 1 or 2 long board that is called the LCD inverter boards are dead. These 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards only job are to help to the CCFL LCD screen tubes to provided a backlight for the tv LCD screen panel to produce a picture.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy those 1 or 2 refurbishes LCD inverter boards for the replacement.

I hope this will help in solving the problem.....

You probably have a bad inverter PCB. It is a skinny board by itself over on the left side of the back of the panel.
