Question about HP iPAQ HX2750 Pocket PC

1 Answer

I tried to back up to my 2gb SD card, and got the message there was not enough space. I copied the files from the 2gb card to a 4gb card, and it will not access the SD card at all. will not even acknowledge the card on any file list.

    Thank you
my 2gb card was working until I tried to back up the device to the card. I did this because the iPAQ was frequently locking up and dumping all the data. This was frustrating me because I had to wait until I got home to sync it with my PC.
My computer has windows XP so are you suggesting a special way to format the SD card? I can not even find a 1 GB card which will fit in the slot.
The iPAQ will not even recognize a SD card drive, even after I tried the two solutions you suggest.
how do some people use "up to 4gb card?"
Is there a software upgrade from HP which will solve the problem?

Thank you, I understand all your instructions except the one about updating firmware.

My SD cards are brand new, and the pocket pc was reading it fine until I made the switch. it doesn't work to switch cards because the pocket pc does not reference the slot. I tried to install the files to the card through active sync, but the only thing available is "main memory" iPAQ file store" I am not sure what the file store means.

    thank you for your time.

Hi,

This is a common problem this this set. As per HP , this set is made to use a maximum of 1 GB. However, many people have actually used upto 4 GB card. Even you have used 2 GB card successfully. There are couple of tricks you could follow and see if that helps and fix this problem :-

1. All you need to do to restore the pocket pc to its factory settings is perform a full reset:

1. Press and hold the Quick Launch and Rotate Screen buttons.
2. While holding these buttons, use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the HP iPAQ until
the device restarts.
3. When the HP iPAQ restarts, release all of the buttons, and then remove the stylus from the
Reset button.
The HP iPAQ restarts and powers on

2. Second option would be format the SD card and see, if that tricks the pocket PC.

If problem remains unsolved, unfortunately, you need to buy a 1 GB card or might be 2 GB again ( obviously with space available ).

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

Make sure that it is compatible SD card. Sometimes faulty SD card could also cause the same issue.Few things to be taken care of :-

    Symptom:

SD Card no longer recognized or detected

    Details:

The SD socket on the iPaq can get dust or debris in it preventing one (or more) of the SD card fingers from making contact.

    Solutions:

    1) Remove the SD card and blow into the socket of the iPaq to remove any dust or particles.

    2) Inspect your SD Card and make sure the metal fingers are clean and
not damaged. You may clean the metal contacts with a damp cotton swab.

    3) With iPaq powered off insert your SD card. Make sure you hear the click and your iPaq should power on.

3a) If your iPaq does not power on then eject the card. This time push
the card all the way in and hold it there for several seconds. Take your
finger off the card allowing it to "click" into position and your iPaq
    should power on.

    - - - IMPORTANT NOTES - - -

+ Do not inert anything into the iPaq socket except a SD card.

+ When cleaning your SD card only clean the metal contacts. Do not submerse or otherwise apply liquid to the card.

+ After cleaning the contacts with a damp cotton swab make sure the
contacts are dry and lint free before inserting the card into the
    socket.

Every pocket PC have a certain limit. So, if all the options are not working, you need to update the firmware to see if that would fix the problem.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

I am not sure whether there is an advisory for the same or not. There are many HP pocket PC's which have a similar issue and there were plenty of advisory for the same such as :-

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...

Most of the Pocket PC's that HP offered have advisories for the same. I am bound to think - Is it again a HP pocket PC glitch?

There are few advisories for your model, but not exactly for the SD card ( as far as i tried to search ). What i could suggest you to give a call to HP and check,if there is any advisory.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

My new 4gb sd card does not register on storage display, and does not seem available to use

The official oprating systems of the HX4700, WM2003 and WM5, do not support SDHC card format. Since most 4Gb "SD" cards are in SDHC format (check the label on your card), the file format of your card is likely to be incompatible with the PDA. Get a 2Gb SD card, or go for a Compactflash card for 4Gb to 32Gb of storage space.

San Disk 2GB is saying it's full when it still has plenty of room

I didn't understand you weren't using it for photography. Here some more suggestions:

* Double check the SD card's Write Protection Switch to make sure it is unlocked.
* If your card reader is old it may need to be replaced. See if the card works properly in your camera. If you hook your camera to your MAC with its USB cable you should be able to upload and download files.
