SOURCE: How do you remove the keyboard for a series

Hello,

I think you would need to refer to your manual or have a Laptop technician do that for so as not to damage it yourself. They would charge a fee to do that also, not too much.

Best regards

How do I replace the CMOS battery in a Thinkpad 1400?

Your CMOS battery is located up inside the case. It is fastened to the underside of the palm rest. You may be able to see it if you remove the battery, if I recall correctly. Most generally, you have to split the case to get at it. Do that carefully by removing the screws and prying the case halves apart.

Hardrive upgrade on IBM i 1400 Laptop ?

Hi! It's correct that your Thinkpad will only accept up to 512 mb of memory, and only certain chips will work with your unit. Here is a link that shows the memory that will work.

Below is a link for recommendations for a hard drive upgrade. It looks like you can go up to a 250 gig drive using Western Digital. Hope this helps! Hal

You need to check the type number on the service pad at the bottom of the laptop, if you cannot find the type, download both vidoe drivers, the wrong one will just not work.

Thinkpad i1400-2621-480 bios does not recognise my new hard drive

The hard drive has to be fdisked and formatted on the laptop to function. If you don't have an internal floppy, I use an external USB drive plugged into the laptop to do the job.
