Not much to go on. If you mean the black cartridge is not giving any ink, and the printer does not say the cartridge is empty you still have a problem. But it is possible to solve.
If I'm guessing right, remove the cartridge with the black ink and look in the printhead. You see the little pipe sticking up, where the black ink is going in. with a dropper, just do a few drops of cleaning fluid on that pipe and replace the cartridge. Than let the printer print some black pages, till the black ink is coming through.
It also could be the cartridge with the black ink is empty or dried. If you shake (take care you will spray ink if you don't seal the ink outlet) and you don't hear any ink in the cartridge, unless what the computer or printer thinks it still is empty.
The HP DeskJet 6122 can print with both or only one ink cartridge installed. The printer driver includes an option to print in gray scale as a substitution for color. If you choose to print a document that has a color other than black and white with only a black cartridge installed, I recommend you select the gray scale print option. To select gray scale, select the printer properties and check the box for gray scale rather than color printing. This selection can be made either at the time a document is ready to print (ie., a one time selection, using the "Properties" box in the print options window), OR as a permenant setting using the Control Panel, Printers, HP DeskJet 6122, "Properties" window. Once changed in the general printer properties, these settings remain active anytime the HP DeskJet 6122 printer is selected to print a document.
Check
the display for an error message. If the display reads "Clearing paper
from printer," the engine has detected a jam and is attempting to eject
the jammed pages automatically. These pages will often be blank.
Check
the display for "Performing PRINT/STOP TEST" or "Performing SERVICE
TEST." Either of these messages indicates that the printer is going
through a test procedure that may eject blank pages.
Reduce
the amount of paper in the input tray if the printer is feeding
multiple blank sheets at a time. The printer will pull extra pages
through if the input tray is overfilled.
Replace
the paper in the input tray with the correct size if needed. If the
4600 printer detects the paper as an incorrect size for the print job, it may eject the paper without printing anything on it.
Replace
the ink cartridges if certain colors are blank on the page. Replace the
black cartridge if printing a black text document that is coming out
blank. The printer may attempt to print even if the ink level is low or
empty, but will unable to print anything on the page, causing it to
come out blank.
Remove
the sealing tape from newly installed cartridges. The tape covers the
print heads and should be removed before installing the cartridges. If
the tape is left on, it will prevent ink from getting on the pages as
they print.
Press
the "Check mark" button on the control panel to enter the printer menu.
Run a diagnostic so the printer can attempt to determine the cause of
the blank pages printing. Press the up or down arrow to select
"Diagnostics." Press the "Check mark" button. Press the "Down" arrow to
highlight "PQ Troubleshooting." Press the "Check mark" button. The
printer runs a diagnostic and returns to a ready state when done.
Hi and thank you for using fixya:
On this specific printer model this light means that your paper has jammed, you need paper, or your ink is low. Please re-start your computer and printer and try again. If problem persists check ink levels on the printer settings (computer)
Good luck
Got to Printers and Faxes in Start, Right click on the icon for the printer, click properties, click maintenance and try cleaning the backing plate from there.
My C60 Epson Stylus printer is not printing. First of all the paper jammed, I pull the paper from the front and since then the catridge holder is not going to the middle to print. also the green light keepon flashing and the red light stays on. I need your help.
Step1 If you're setting up the printer or changing the toner or ink cartridge for the first time, double-check the instructions to make sure that you installed the cartridge correctly and, for new printers, that you have removed all the pieces of cardboard or plastic packing material. Step 2 Check to see whether paper is feeding from the paper tray. If it's not leaving the tray at all, try feeding a page manually (if that's an option) or using a different paper tray. Sometimes a problem with the tray can be traced to a broken spring or a piece of plastic. Step 3 If paper is feeding from the tray but jamming in the printer, examine where the jam is occurring and then inspect the printer carefully to see if you can find what is causing the problem. A piece of paper, for instance, might be blocking the paper path. Step 4 If paper is feeding through the printer but coming out blank, check to see whether the printer is out of toner or ink. A defective toner or ink cartridge could be the problem.
It sounds like a defective toner cartridge. Try replacing it. If that does not cure the problem, then the fuser assembly needs to be replaced, in which case it is probably cheaper to buy a new one.
