the Nintendo wii is a glorified dvd player with a few major exceptions. it sounds like the units optical pickup has dust or debris on it. try the Wii Lens Cleaning Kit at amazon for 10 bucks. very common and simple fix.
If there is a bad noise coming from inside of your Wii when you are trying to load a game, either there is something stuck inside of the DVD drive or a part has fallen out of place. If you feel comfortable with it -- open up the Wii and check things out. Make sure the kids didn't put anything in the drive. Find a qualified person to take wii apart and remove leaf. This is common I find, kids love to put anything they can find in these wii's. I have removed all kinds of things from wii's for several customers.
