Question about Kenmore 62602 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Doesn't start My 90 series Kenmore Electric dryer wont start. The light works and when I hold in the door switch manually the light goes off but the dryer still wont start. When I push the start button I hear a faint single click sound coming from the button itself but no other sounds. I started removing screws and looking at wires and all look okay so far. I have a multimeter and I'm looking for any fuses to test/replace. Can anyone help me locate the fuse(es) or does anyone have any other suggestions.

Hi,
  • Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

  • If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

  • Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
Hope this will fix your problem for sure.

Kenmore 80 series electric dryer wont start

Push the button manually and see if the light goes off . If it does , then the problem is the thermal fuse (a white slim piece of plastic with 2 wires connected to it ) located on the blower housing beneath the drum .

Kenmore 80 series wont start

Common failure of these dryers is the door switch. The switch is located at the top right where the door comes in contact with the tab,

A simple test is to verify that the light is on and goes out when the switch tab is depressed.

If not replace the switch.

Hope this helps?
