Put in fresh batteries in reverse (+/-) order for about 5 to 10 seconds. Remove batteries and put back in correct order. Unit will reset back to factory settings. You can now set the time, temp, and program the unit as desired.

We have a White-Rodgers 90 series thermostat that started beeping last night. We have had it for about 4 years. Does it have a battery? I couldn't find anything about that in the manual.

Susan, the "90" series of thermostats covers a couple of different thermostats made by White-Rodgers. Here's how to find your model number. With that info, I can check the manual specific to your thermostat.

In the mean time, check the display for the word BATTERY or BAT. (Flashing) on the display. Battery flashing or blinking on the digital display indicates low batteries. If the batteries have recently been changed and the thermostat continues to indicate low batteries, use a pencil eraser to polish each of the battery contacts inside the back of the thermostat. Do not bend them up and down when polishing or you might break them. When complete, they should all be as shiny as a mirror. This will assure proper battery back-up, allow the backlight to work correctly and remove the flashing battery symbol from the screen. Battery (Solid) on Display The battery symbol (not blinking) indicates a loss of power (24 volts) from the heating and cooling equipment to the thermostat. Normally the heating and cooling do not operate when the battery indicator is on. If the battery indicator is on, check the fuses or breakers, make sure the furnace is switched on, and verify the blower compartment door is closed properly. The battery display is designed to indicate the thermostat is running on batteries, so replacing batteries has no effect on the indicator. See No Heat/No Cool for more information. Note: Some heat only systems (zoned systems) disconnect power from the thermostat during a normal heating cycle and display the battery symbol. Millivolt heating systems always indicate battery because they do not supply 24 volts to the thermostat.

A beep often is provided as audible feedback when keys are depressed on many thermostats. You should check to make sure that no key is stuck in the "in" position or is otherwise activated.

Hi, there is nothing more aggravating than having your household appliances not work.
Like a computer, the "thermostat" (it holds the batteries) retains the information you program (maybe the technician) to set the temperature controls.
The highs and lows can normally be bypassed with the push of a button.
Removing the batteries clears the memory. (Volatile memory).
When this happens, you must reprogram the thermostat so it knows what settings to operate at.
Can you get the instructions on how to program the thermostat? The instructions are usually on a paper on the thermostat lid.

(when changing batteries, remove one battery, then put a new one in its place before removing the next one. This keep some power to prevent the settings from being cleared.

We have 3 Duracraft thermostats. We have recently had problems with all 3 switching from Centigrade to Farenheight and back. Batteries changed with no resolution. When they switch to Centigrade they don't...

On some programmable thermostats you need to hold either the up and down buttons together to get
the thermostat to stay on farenheight.

It could also be that you will have to go in the program and make sure you set it to farenhieght.
On the back of some T-stat covers it will explain how to do this

How to reset Service Engine light? 2003 Envoy ... Autozone says engine temp too low was reason for light. That's silly. I have gages ... it runs at 180 degrees. I just want the light off.

Ok replace the thermostat which is stucked open, cuz the computer will not go into open loop unless the engine reaches normal operating temperature. You can disconnect the battery, to reset it, but untill you replace the thermostat, the check engine light will pop up again. Good luck

Thermostat malfunction

You may want to shut the breaker off to your furnace or air handler, or if you have a packaged system turn it's breaker off. This will kill the low voltage to the stat possibly allowing it to reset. I would also try to reset it after you turn your breakers back on.
