Question about Vocopro DVG-777K II DVD Player

Open Question

Hi, We recently bought the Vocopro DVG-777K II DVD Player, it can play from USB flash drive but can't play from the external hard drive(tried the Seagate 2TB & The Passport 500GB). 1) What particular brand of external hard drive does it read and is there a capacity limit? 2) How does the unit assign the # or sort the file? Tried the filename in numeric, or in Alphabet but the unit when assigning the number just scrambles the file. This would create a problem because everytime files are added, the unit scramble the files meaning it doesn't have a fix assigned number for each file. making it hard for us to find the file (music) we want to play not unless we go to the menu list and scroll down. Also, tried to play the DVD, at first (few seconds) it can read, then it stuck, then the screen turns black, then the botton doesn't work. What went wrong? Have to turn off the unit & turn it on again to get the DVD out. Would appreciate it if you could shed some light. Thanks, Grace

SOURCE: My receiver is reading NO DISC

First, the player does not support DVDs or MP3 discs.

Try two things:
#1:
Unplug from outlet and Turn ON player (while unplugged).
Plug back in and try to use the CD.

#2:
Obtain a CD laser lens cleaner from Radio Shack ($13). It is an audio CD with a row of brushes and does not use chemicals

SOURCE: My receiver is reading NO DISC

Note that vocopro karaoke player/receiver does not support DVDs or MP3 discs. But you can try the following step to solve the problem.

Try to clean the lens of the player as well by getting a CD laser lens cleaner which is CD with a row of brushes and does not use chemical.
Thanks

Wharfedale DVD1100 PLayer does not detect USB Hard drive

It's unlikely that you're doing something wrong. Did you buy this DVD player as one that is supposed to support connecting hard drives? If not, then the player probably doesn't support connecting a hard drive.

The disc starts to spin but doesnt seem to be able to pick up enough speed to read. It says NO DISC.

First try to clean your optical lens using a cotton buds and wipe it gently. Before we go to major repair. it may work. Feel free to send feed back so we can continue to diagnose the fault. Good day.

Could very well be that the external hard drive is drawing more power than what the player can deliver - it is enough for a usb stick but not for the external drive. Now if you use an external drive that is self powered I am sure there will be no issue.

I just bought an Aveis 1080p upconverting DVD player and when i put my USB device in it doesn't it says unsupported. What kind of USB device should I get

USB stick has to be formated in FAT32 file system.
Some players will only play sticks up to 2 Gigs, some may recognize and play video files even from external hard drives.
Aveis is a no name player, so who knows if it'll play anything besides MP3 and JPG.

I'd go with a Pioneer or Coby (both at Best Buy); both play DivX format from sticks and external hard drives; no MPEG-4 or MKV files though, which is a bummer (did not find any player under $100 that does.)
I tried them both (also tried Philips and Toshiba), but the Pioneer had far the best picture and sound amongst all of them. Coby was OK, but the display broke.

Connecting an External Portable Hard Drive?

You are connecting it to a car DVD player, but how many types of music format is it capable of playing? It should be in the Manual, however it will be able to play mp3. *.flac, *.wmv, *.wav, *.cda. But how ere you going to power your external hard disk? If it has provision for use of 12V DC voltage, same as that of the car. After its powered, only then will it work, but the USB connector will provide the output into the DVD players USB slot(just like attaching a flas drive like pen drive which uses the USB slot for power too....sodeep

Playing movies from external hard drive

Hi rox09
Well you can rip your DVD to any external drive using and third party DVD ripping software ,once you do that you will get a AVI,MPEG and any common fomats your DVD player supports

Inorder to play those files in your DVD player ,you need the check whether your DVD has a USB input port or else if you laptop or computer has a S-video out put and your TV has S-Video input ;you can play directly from your laptop/computer to the TV using a S-video Cable which is available in any Computer shop.
I hope this helps
