Question about Asko W6021 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

After doing 6 loads on saturday, at the end of a normal load my Asko 6021 washer door was locked and wouldn't open - I used the emergency release to open it and cleared the filter. Now when I turn it on it makes a strange noise - without pressing "start" - and no programs will start.

    Thanks -

Hose at back is clear, at front clear, pin trap clear - can't find the pressure switch and screen (on the machine nor on the website suggested). Can you tell me where to find it?

Hi.

If it makes strange noise, then the door lock should be OK. When the door lock contact is open the machine will not start.

Before doing anything else disconnect power from the appliance.

Since cycle does not start, first part to test if there is no water inside the machine is inlet. Move the machine forward and check the inlet hose at the back, ensure that it is not kinked or blocked.

Check also drain hose. If more water is being detected and pumped out when you start the machine, a blockage at drain hose will result in machine making noise and cycle not starting (drain hose mentioned is the one at the back, not the filter).

As said, if there is water inside the machine, before filling the machine will drain the water. For this same reason, while machine is apart from the wall , try to understand if machine is pumping out water at the start of the cycle. If it is, then go back to the filter (disconnect again first), and double check in there. After that check the pressure switch. Pressure switch detects the level of water in the tub and starts/stop the drain pump. Try cleaning pressure switch screen and blowing into the pipe attached to PS.

If that does not work, then the problem is more complex. Next steps will be testing inlet valve, double checking door lock, and testing motor, motor control unit, wiring and central control unit. Pump is also tested by energizing it directly.

In that case better calling a technician by ringing the number listed in the owners manual. Some of the testing mentioned must be done with machine cycling.

    Hi.

I do not have precise schematics. The switch is located near to the control panel. It is a round shaped plastic part with 4 contactacts and a rubber hose that goes into the tub. Disassembly is required to acccess the switch.

If machine is starting try also running the diagnostic. Here the how to: How to Enter Service/Diagnostic Mode

It won't stop washing, after a while the diital screen flashes "F3"

Hello Matthew, welcome to FixYa.

To address your post of the washer running a long time and eventually displaying an "F3"...they are directly related. These will not spin until they drain sufficiently.

The F3 indicates an issue with the drain, pump filter, or the pump itself. There is typically a drain filter in the pump as you may or may not know, based on your description it may be clogged. You'll need to access it, clean it out via draining it through the pump "emergency drain hose" before you can in the end open the door (though usually once drained to a safe level it will open under normal procedures) however there should be a door lock release on Asko built machines...including this series you posted
.

**This is the procedure for machines of the past 10yrs. or so...(this is only an example, it may not be exact but essentially the same as yours as well as most W600 or 6000 series)**

I have an asko w600 front load washer, seems to wash ok, but will not go into spin cycle, drain pump operates - slowly, but does not start spin cycle. saw somewhere on net that pump may be faulty

Hello Greg, welcome to FixYa.
To address your post of the washer not spinning and your curiosity of a faulty pump...the pump may simply be obstructed preventing a proper drain, thus a compromised spin, they are directly related. These frontloaders will not spin until they drain sufficiently. (though a faulty drain pump is possible, it woud be the exception, not the rule).

Can't open door of ASKO W6883

If nothing else works, the washer door can be opened as follows:

This must only be done in an emergency

if the machine's glass door does not open automatically when the program has finished.

First check that there is no water left in the machine. If there is water left in the machine and it is not possible to run the Drain program, empty the machine by using the drain hose.

Make sure that the main power switch is off and that the plug has been re- moved from the wall socket.

You will find the emergency opener for the glass door in the double sealed bag.

Open the glass door by putting the opener in the slot to the right of the lock on the door. Push the opener up or down and the door will open.

I can't open the door to the washer, asko 10505. I ran a load, and it's all done washing, but now the door is clicked shut, and I can't figure out how to release it and get the laundry out. can you...

After teh program the latch had to disable but possible that the lock got jammed or the end link is not connecting.
Look from the bottom and you can access the lock section to release and get the lock function.
Once it opens use good degreasing spray and then oil then lock as there can be rust or dirt that has got it stuck.
The end program safety link must also work.

Cycle finished but door won't unlock, please help

normally, front loading machines have this bypass cables in case this things happens, if there is a small opening at the front to acces the drain filter, open it up then look for a small plastic pc with a ring at the end. this is the pull release cable of the door lock. pull it downwards and the door will be released.

if you do not have the small opening to access the drain filter, you can tilt the machine to its back, ( be carefull, its very heavy) then reach for the plastic ring underneath to pull to release the door lock.

tnx 4 using fixya..
