Question about Dishwashers

When you start it up the water doen't come on. Wife said she her some noise and smelt something. When I push the rinse function nothing happens. When I push the drain function I hear the drain motor working. I think the problem is the water pump, If you agree how do I change it?

Hi,
The valve that let's the water in is an electrically operated soleniod valve. there is an electric coil that opens and closes the valve. This coil probably burnt out and caused the noise and smell...the water is pushed into the dishwasher by the house pressure there is no pump to pump the water in...the pump will not run to spray the water around if it does not sense that there is enough water in the dishwasher...

Here is a tip that will help you to find out why water will not come into the dishwasher...

Will not start

It seems that something was burned out trying to make the starter turn. The problem could be the starter and/or the solenoid.

Go to youtube and enter, "how to check a starter" you may have to remove it to check it. I could tell you how. But it is better if you see how it's done for yourself. Also check the fuses.

Loud whirring noise going into rinse cycle. Low

Hi tuck just read your posting. Now on the low whirring noise on the start of the rinse cycle ,Is it when the machine is draining the water or filling with water. If the noise happens when the machine is draining then I think either your pump has something slowing it down or it is faulty. Please look underneath the machine to the front right and you should see a red or black fan .If you do then this is your pump.If you don't see a fan you must have the newer style of pump. Please reply with additional information on the questions and I am sure I can help you rectify this problem

Whirlpool gold UIltimate care heavy duty super capacity washer

Well you can check the capacitor with a meter for farads, but it sounds like you have a clutch and/ or gearcase failure causing the motor to overheat. The second thing to do is unplug the washer and check the timer. I would right after the agitation to inspect for heat and burnt connections.

Ultimate Care II - Rinse Cycle does not start

sounds like a lid switch problem. is there a clicking noise when you open and close the lid?
if not then the lid switch may need to be replaced; inexpensive.
this could also be caused by a bad timer.
also try a different speed for the rinse cycle, it may be a bad motor and it is not going into a certain speed. instead of gentle or slow speed try fast or normal, something like that.

Sounds like the outlet pump has siezed up due to having been stood for so long. You may need to take the pump apart, clean the shaft & reassemble. Or, you could try a spray with WD 40 on the pump. TURN POWER OFF FIRST
