Some of my E-Mails cannot be printed when I get a notice of "Unknown printer problem" on my Canon printer

    The printer is Canon BJC 250 The problem started just a few days ago. I have no problem printing almost everything but now a few get the notice "an unknown printer error has occurred while printing" I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the printer

    Yes from Firefox. when I type about:config in the URL bar and hit enter I get
    Navigation to Web Page Cancelled

    I am sorry. I do not know why I said Firefox. It is Thunderbird for my E-mails. I now find that I cannot print from Thundserbird and get the unknown error message but I have no problem printing from Internet Explorer.

    I do not think we are getting anywhere. I can print anything except E-mails that come in on Thunder

I have few more queries. Please don't mind, this will help us narrow down the troubleshooting steps and find out the culprit.

What if you print regular documents from the printer, not emails? Is the same problem persists or is it only with emails? What is the email server?, like... yahoo or gmail or aol... etc...etc...

Suppose, if it's with the gmail, then try with yahoo or another emails and find out the result. If the problem persists and the same problem happens with other emails as well, then I don't think it's related to your web page print settings. Must be your printer's driver issue.

Or if regular document has no problem with this issue, then you need to check the print settings. The best option is uninstall the currently installed driver and reinstall a new updated driver.

Let me know with more details, like the name of the operating system installed, the printer's model, (or if any other printer/s is installed....)

    I finally solved the problem myself. For your future info, the wrong printer name "Intui tInternal printer" was showing up on printer panel. when I corrected it to Canon all was back to normal,
    Maybe Fixya owes me $15!

Hi,

It would be hepful to know the printer model number.
Also, since when are you facing this issue?

Are you getting this issue printing from a particular computer?
If so, you might want to remove and reinstall the printer once.

Please try to reset the printer once. That might help.

    Are you getting this error when printing from any specific applications?



    A Web Browser, MS Word, Internet Explorer etc.?



    Are you printing from Firefox, by any chance?



    If yes, please try these steps:

    type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
    Preference name = print.print_printer
    Right click that preference and select Reset, then restart Firefox.



    Let me know how it goes.

    So, it is Firefox, like I suspected. The issue will be resolved with the steps I offered you.

    Be sure that you type about:config as one word in the location bar with no spaces in it.

    You might want to try clicking on the hyperlink in my first solution too.

    The browser is a small download, you could perhaps reinstall it again and try.

My brand new Canon IP 100 pixma printer wont print cause it's saying "offline." I've turned it off and on numerous times. What can i do?


Hi, please follow this instruction to make your printer back to "online". Notice that i have used Epson Stylus Photo R230 as a model for the instruction, but this procedure also works with canon.
1. Please try to print a document. (word, excel etc.), 2. Now, if you already notice that your printer is "offline" by clicking the printers icon at the task bar.

The task bar can be found in the lower right part of your screen.

3. All you have to do is, Click on the "printer" tab 4. And then remove the check mark at "user printer offline" by clicking on it.

5. Once done, you will notice that the "use printer offline" will disappear and then let's you print the specified document again.

Printhead location unknown on a canon 850i printer is what the fault indicates


Check the contact area of your print head.. sometimes if ink get into the area.. it will give an error.
Make sure you clean the area behind the print head.. and see if there is any dirt or ink at the contact area on the printer, clean with some slight alchor ..

Unplug usb .... Delete/unistall old driver .... download latest driver from www.canon.com .....install it .... insert usb when prompted

No free tec support, you could try ringing who ever you bought it from or local canon dealer and you may strike a friendly, but warranty is for printer malfuntion and you on the other hand seem to be having software/driver issue.

Ink problems col vol unknown and wont print


Something that worked for me, I opened the Conon MX310. took out both cartridges, and for 10 seconds I held the Reset. put the cartridges back in, closed the lid, and again, for another 10 seconds held the reset. SLOW seconds. this reset, ink levels recognised,, and it's working as it should be.
