What this means is the red and black wire going to your gas valve has a bad connection. Replace the connector.

Heater is cycling on and off, less then one minute cycle time between cycles. Sometimes SPK code comes on and stays on without firing. Have shorted water press switch with no effect. Pretty sure gas...

The SPK Code, indicates that there is power to Igniter and should be producing a Spark to ignite fuel! If this is actually the case, then it is NOT a safety sensor issue, The igniter serves a dual purpose: produce a spark, and then CONFIRM a flame is consuming the fuel. If it does not get a proper Milivolt reading, then gas valve will shut off, hence a cycle occurs. Not enough reading is the same to the heater as no reading! Safety issue. If gas valve stays open, and no flame to consume raw fuel, it will build up and accumulate then when ignition takes place, it go...BOOM! Not Good.
Either insufficient fuel supply/pressure or faulty igniter. It's also not a Gas Valve. It's a simple switching valve, either open or closed.

Why does pool heater read SPK and won't light?

Sounds like your ignitor is shot. You may have to replace it.

What part do i need when plt code comes display ?

spk I think means spark for ignition and plt means pilot so i assume the heater tried to light but the pilot light is not staying on. could be dirtly contact on the ignition spark plug or dirty pilot flame need to be cleaned and the unit serviced.

i hope this was useful.

Raypak 2100 fault

It sounds like your ignitor may be out. Everything else is good in the safety loop and the heater wants to fire. The last step in the process is the ignition of the main burner. Are you hearing a ticking sound? If not the spark is not being produced.

Coil burn out

Hi, Nuwan and the usual suspects are:
1. Damaged or worn out spark plugs.
2. Spark plug gap too wide.
3. Damaged, leaking, worn out spark plug wires, boots, or center cap connectors.
4. Excessive vibration due to the loose mounting bracket.
5. Faulty ground check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.

Hi, Merle and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and CDI box.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose, check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil, pick up coil, trigger coil or CDI box testing needs to be checked with an ohmmeter at 70 degrees Fahrenheit
7. Faulty safety switches clutch, kickstand, neutral, off/on etc.
8. Faulty ignition switch.

SPK

The heater is not getting spark or not reading spark. Pull the pilot assembly and clean it and check all the wires conserned with it, Best guess after that new pilot or ignition module. For the money involved here a repairman is in order to be sure. Good luck.

Raypack pool/spa heater works intermittently

You can try pulling your pilot assembly out and clean it. Sometimes it will get sooted up and cause the sensor to short so the heater get's a falce reading and shuts the heater down. Then sometimes the heater will start and sometimes it won't. If this dosen't help check the ignition wire for any cracks or anyplace it may be shorting. Good luck.
