Question about Golden Technologies Golden CompanioN II - 3 Wheel

1 Answer

Scooter is about 6 years old. Light to medium use on pavement. Batteries about a year old. Problem: It looses power intermittently. Some days scooter work fine. Other days not very good. It seems like there isn't any power and needs to be pushed. The power indicated shows power is good however. Brushes have never been replaced. Suspect motor brushes or electrical contact is dirty. Any ideas? Thank you.

Ahs could be the brushes they are pretty easy to check. On the rear of the motor should be 2 access screw covers carefully remove them and slowly remove each brush. if they are worn more than halfway I would replace them. Now I have seen your problem caused by dirty or worn speed pot. The speed control pot is fairly inexpensive to buy and easy to replace. If you have an ohm meter you can ohm it out checking for erratic meter movement as you slowly turn the knob. you should get a smooth increase or decrease in the meter as you turn the pot up or down. Hope this helps you

My mobility scooter said batteries ok not charged for a while went for about a minute then stopped suddenly going over entrance to supermarket just completely shut Down thought batteries were gone but they...

Since this is a scooter you take apart you probably had an intermittent connection at the place where the 2 sections join. A few scenarios. 1. You may not have latched the 2 sections and they momentarily separated causing a disconnect resulting in a power failure. 2. The connectors are fitting loosely and the jolt caused a momentary disconnect resulting in the power failure. 3. You may have a connector in the circuit that has come loose and from the jolt you had a momentary disconnect. You need to make sure all connectors are securely clasped. 4. Check your battery terminal connections, sometimes they become loose and a jolt will do the same thing. If you find that the connector at the place where the two sections come together, you will have to replace the needed wiring harnesses to correct this problem.. A local service tech should be able to quickly find the problem.

I have a 3 wheel falcon. Its wonderful but all of a sudden I'm going along and it stops short for no reason

When the failure occurs does a light flash on the tiller. If you see a flashing light count the number of flashes get back to me, your controller has found something wrong. When the scooter stops short do any lights light or is the scooter completely dead. Take the batteries to a battery shop.Have them load test them. I have a Rascal 600t my batteries will put out 500 cranking amps. If the batteries test good have the shop charge them up for you. Does it work right now. Yes, check your charger. No, check the freewheel mechanism when its in freewheel mode it electrically disconnects the motor. Well this thing gets wet at times i have to WD40 mine to get it to work right. The last thing to do is but the back end up,run it, while wiggling wires. Pay particular attention to connectors. The toggle switch in the tiller often gets intermittent. On my scooter the plugs on my get loose causing my scooter to fault out or to stall.Hope this helps

The scooter charges and shows full charge when started. Scooter will not drive uphill - certainly seems to lack torque - when driving up hill battery indicator drops to red

Either the hill is too steep of a grade/incline, the weight of the rider is more than the scooter is designed to carry, or the battery does not have enough power. If the batteries are old or have not been maintained properly, they may not be getting a deep solid charge that is needed to operate on hilly terrain. This is indicated when the batteries show a full charge, and then drop off quickly after a short period of use. Make sure that you are not exceeding the recommended weight limit for the scooter and that your batteries are less than 2 years old. Inclines of more than 5-6 degrees are typically not recommended for safe operation.
I hope this information is helpful to you, good luck!

I have a 4 wheeled shoprider sunrunner scooter. Only 3 lights on led light up batteries are fully charged?

Possible one or both batteries have had there day. How old are the batteries. If they are between 1 and 2 years old they will probably need replacing. it would be adviseable to get the batteries tested and have the charger checked as well. When did it have its last service ?

Battery will not charge

Those batteries are probably dead, you have to charge them every so often if you are not using your scooter or chair. You also have to move it so the tires don't wear down and go flat.

Electrics cut out so often then come back on after a while

First of all,7 years is a long time for a scooter. Your batteries are probably shot and I would suggest you take it to a service tech to get it fixed. This would be the best way to keep this scooter running.
