Check whether the pump is getting ON to pressure the water. CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY AND CLEAN IF THE CONTACTS ARE NOT MAKING CONTACT ( if mechanical timer) For electronic timer you have to check the the relay connected to the pump motor.

Miele dishwasher model G858 water will not circulate and the intake / drain code flashing? Does anyone know what needs to be replaced?

when you start a cycle, your machine should drain for 30 sec, fill with water, and then the circulation pump should come on. your water level should be up to the handle on the filter in the bottom. if you drain, and fill to the handle and then the intake drain error comes on, your circulation pump is stuck. if it does not fill to the handle, you may have a problem with the inlet valve.

MY DISHWASHER WONT KICK INTO WASH CYCLE CAN HEAR THAT IT WANTS TO BUT DOESN'T ..IT WILL FILL AND DRAIN AND DRY...CHECKED DRAIN AND FILTER CLEAR

Hi,
Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description and provided the dishwasher is indeed filling with water, draining, heating, but not circulating, It sounds like a busted wash impeller within the main motor/circulation pump.

First though, do you hear a quiet sound of a motor starting once the unit has completed filling with water ?

( it will be super quiet if the wash impeller is broke as I suspect it may be...almost like a fountain, since the Viking...built by "Asko"...are very quiet under normal conditions. You will have to either get right down with your ear to the bottom or run it with the door open by activating the door switch with a screw-driver )

If so that is a tell tale of no wash action yet the motor runs, hence broken impeller. If you don't hear anything it may be a wire come off the main motor/circulation pump...but not likely.

This unfortunately is common with Asko built dishwasher`s and it is a case of being a victim of their own design.

What happens typically is the ball-bearings from the upper rack holders ( which are plastic which fatigues due to heat and fall apart ) fall out making their way into the sump, hence breaking the wash impeller from the motor.

Let me know what you find and I'll try and help you move forward from there.

Good luck,

Macmarkus :)

Unit will not drain. It will fill with water in normal manner. Circulating pump also works normally. Float switch seems to be sound. But the wash water is not expelled as it ought to be.

Something simple to check is the drain hose. I am an installer and have seen this many times and people will buy a new dishwasher after putting in a new garbage disposal. If you did, did you remove the knock out plug from the disposal? Next, remove the drain hose end from under the sink and try sucking the water out with a wet/dry vac. All the water from the dishwasher should easily be sucked out from any dishwasher except a GE brand. If not, your drain hose is clogged.

Dishwasher keeps tripping electric

Two things to consider....clean water or dirty water?
Clean water usually indicates the fill valve is not shutting off all the way and the fill valve is "weeping" water in all the time = new fill valve time!!
Dirty water usually is not a dishwasher problem but more of a plumbing issue. Often the sink drain that carries the sinks water outside is not fast enough and some of this sink water is backing up into the drain hose and filling up the dishwasher through the drain hose. The drain from the sink to outside needs attention as this type of a problem indicates a slow house drain for that sink.
The dishwasher drain line should be clamped to the top underneath part of the counter before entering the sink drain plumbing, this may help the water from coming back inside the dishwash
If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:

Water-heating cycle
Timer
Water-heating cycle Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

  • On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

  • On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

Timer Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

Washer won't advance from cycle to cycle

When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

* It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never
advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace
the timer.

* It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates,
drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

it sounds as though the circulating pump may not be operating. if so fault is often due to the pump capacitor being faulty and this is a cheap part.
