Question about Acer TravelMate 2300 Notebook

Why, AGAIN & AGAIN & AGAIN

Everytime my acer travelmate 2310 gets unplugged it will not restart??
I have had this problem forever, some say it's my battery, I have replaced it.
than it's my power cord, I have replaced it, the last time someone said it was my fizel? fazel? with instructions to remove the cover, hold the fizel for 30 seconds, return the battery, I did that, it came on a couple of days later,
My grandson unplugged it again, I repeated everything from removing the battery, holding the fizel and now it won't come on,
The battery light is on, but the computer won't start????????????? it is plugged in to the powerbar, which is new too.
HELP!

I somehow entered this comment in the solutions box,

No power at all, not even for a second. this happens all the time, it usually comes back days or weeks later, it has been over a week now and nothing. I have replaced the power cord in the past when this happened, when the computer starts up again the older power cord will work again??
Thank you for your quick response.

From what you''ve said, I'm not convinced it's your battery or power unit, but a problem with your laptops motherboard. First and foremost, if your laptop is still under warranty, get it back to the company you purchased it from, and they'll fix it for free for you. If your laptop is not under warranty, first check the socket you plug your power unit into, to make sure it hasn't come loose. If thats okay, then you'll need to have the laptops motherboard checked (either by Acer themselves (they'll likely ask you to send it back to them), or by your local laptop technician).

Acer 2310 travelmate, power button will not go on. There is no sound of a fan. It is in effect dead. Tried different outlet with no improvement. Unplugged everything and replugged it in.

ok, if there is no indecation that there is any power, I mean even no instant flash when you first try turning it on... sometime the power plug in the back gets loose inside. or the power adapter dies... I would try gently weglling the power plug while looking at the lights if anything happen then it is the plug. if nothing then I would try to test the adapter either by a multimeter or borrowing another adapter and seeing what happend... also try disconnecting the power and take the battery out, wait few seconds then put the battery back, then the adapter (all while looking at the lights) then try again.. still if nothing then it maybe the main board itself... best of luck

Put in the recovery cd, and restart the computer. Its going to say something like: "Press any key to boot from cd", then press any key. It should start up. Tell me what it says when you restart you computer with the cd inside the computer.

Reformatting an Acer Travelmate 2310

Enter the first recovery cd, and choose the option to format the hard drive and install a fresh copy of windows. Then enter the second recovery cd when it asks. It should have an option of formatting the drive when you put in the recovery cds. There is not that much that can go wrong, since you want to delete everything anyway. Hope that helps :).

Loose connection, short?

Try to find the button that tells the screen to come on. This sticks sometimes on laptops. I always tell people not to use canned air because it only blows dust around, but it could help your problem. If you are okay with taking it apart you can find this button and see if it is sticking. This is becoming a common problem with laptops. I recently had a customer with this problem and it took me some time to figure it out. It is usually around the hinge. Look at the manual if you can't find it.
