Samsung RB31F Fridge/Freezer - fridge temperature too high, freezer OK

1-The condenser coils are usually located under the refrigerator. They dissipate heat as refrigerant passes through them. If the condenser coils are dirty, they won't dissipate the heat effectively. As debris builds up on the coils, the refrigerator becomes less efficient, causing the refrigerator to work harder to cool down. If the coils are significantly dirty, the refrigerator will not be able to maintain the proper temperature. Check the condenser coils to determine if they are dirty-if the condenser coils are dirty, clean them.
2-The evaporator fan motor draws air over the evaporator (cooling) coils and circulates it throughout the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Some refrigerators have more than one evaporator fan motor. On refrigerators with only one evaporator, the evaporator is located in the freezer compartment. If the evaporator fan is not working, it will not circulate the cold air to the refrigerator compartment. If this occurs, the freezer may still get cold, while the refrigerator will not get cold. To determine if the evaporator fan motor is defective, try turning the fan blade by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, replace the fan motor. Additionally, if the motor is unusually noisy, replace it. Finally, if the motor does not run at all, use a multimeter to test the motor windings for continuity. If the windings do not have continuity, replace the evaporator fan motor.

Noisy refrigerator/freezer

The freezer fan motor , being noisey , is probably the cause for the food/drink problem . It should be replaced . Pt # 54482-10 is the part number for the motor . However , on your model , it looks like the bottom freezer panel , has to be removed , to replace the motor . The motor costs about $70.00 . Do not know if you should try this yourself , may need an experienced repairman , to remove the divider strip , to remove the panel .

Stuff in the freezer is melting, motor is running, no cold

turn your freezer temp dial to off and wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on to max setting. if you have temp gauage you can try to check temp inside freezer, if not cold enough (less than 30 degrees) you could be losing freon gas. you need to call technician.

My bottom freezer is not cold

  • Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? If not, reset it.

  • Next, see if the compressor motor is running

The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator/freezer at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator/freezer is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.

If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator/freezer, there may be a problem with one or more of these:

    • The compressor

    • The Thermostat

    • The overload, relay, or capacitor

    • The defrost timer

    • The condenser fan motor

Kenmore elite 596 73503201 no cooling in top compartment

if the freezer is getting cold the problem is due to the cold air from the freezer not getting into the refrigerator. There are several things that can cause this problem. The coils in the freezer icing up and not defrosting properly is one of the things that can cause the refrigerator not to get cold enough. Another problem is the fan that blows the cold air from the freezer compartment into the refrigerator, not working. When the compressor is running open the refrigerator's door and push the switch that makes the light go out. You should hear the fan blowing the cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator, when this switch is pushed in. If the fan is working then you will need to find what is blocking the air flow. Iced up coils are a common problem. The icing problem can be due to a defective defrost timer or something defective in the defrost circuit. Click here for more information. Check for these problems and let me know what you have found.
