Hi, I have a Nikon D60. Somehow I locked aperture at highest number. Even with Manual setting, it does not let me change aperture! Please help

The lens is supposed to be locked at its smallest setting (largest f/number). You can control the aperture from the camera body, the same was as on a lens without an aperture ring. For example, in aperture priority mode (A), simply turn the command dial. In manual mode (M), hold down the exposure compensation button while turning the command dial.

That was for a lens with the electronics to communicate with the camera. If you have a purely mechanical lens, you must shoot in manual mode and control the aperture by turning the ring on the lens. There should be a small orange slide near the aperture ring, Slide it toward the front of the lens to unlock the ring.

If you need more help, please feel free to reply to this post. Please specify the lens when you do.

Will not stay on.. turns on and then beeps once and turns off.. the battery is fully charged

Welcome to FixYa.

There are three reasons why your camera power ceases while in use.

* The Battery is exhausted
- insert a charged battery or recharged the battery
* The camera is turned off automatically
- turn on the camera power again
* Operation has ceased in a low temperature outside of the camera usage temperature range
- make sure the camera and battery warm by placing them in your pocket, etc. and then immediately before shooting, place the battery in the camera and then shoot.

In your case, posible will be the 3rd reason. If you still having the same issue after doing the troubleshooting. I also suggest to removed and re-insert the battery and try to switch it on again.

If this option wont work, you have to contact your service center.

I will be more happy to know if my solution will help you or not on your issues on your camera.
Feel free to reply on this for any question or comments.

It won't turn on, with the battery inside and memory card

Welcome to FixYa.

First I just want to ask if you already charged the camera? If yes,I suggest that you have to change the battery first and tried to charge it again. Possible that the battery itself could have gone bad. If the cells within the battery are damaged, it can refuse to charge or power the camera on.

I hope this can solved your issue on your camera.

What does raw mean on the camera and when put on the laptop

Hey there,
A camera raw image file contains minimally processed data from the camera. This is mostly used for professionals who want the absolute highest quality from their photos. However, RAW photos are very very large in file size, and will fill up your memory card quickly.
I recommend shooting in the highest quality JPEG file format. This will give you great looking photos, but with a more manageable file size.
Hope this helps! And if it did, feel free to rate me :)

Bought a Nikon P100 to replace a basic point and shoot dital camera. With children in sports, a shot from the stands is hard to 'get.' Now, all I get is blurry messes, unless it's in auto mode. Even the...

This camera is a bridge between the Point & Shoot (P&S) types and a "full blown" dSLR camera. It is very complex when compared the P&S type.

There are many areas of the manual the discuss the focus procedure, but you might want to simply perform a "RESET ALL" on the camera. This will return all the settings to their DEFAULT factory settings, thereby clearing any custom setting that could be responsible for the problem you are having. The instructions on how to do this and the settings defaults are shown on pages 171 through 173 of the manual. You will probably want to review them quickly before initiating the process.

After the reset, try taking some pictures to verify the focus works again. Next, feel free to change any setting from the default to one of your liking. Be sure to take a picture after EACH setting change to make sure you don't find yourself in the same situation again.

I hope this helps. Please rate my reply - thanks!

Card Locked!

the best solution is to get all the data off of the card then remove the card ... its easier to just replace the card.....
but you can try to fix it your self if u think u can simply take a pair of pliers and remove the tab make sure that the slot is bridged(or not bridged) to stop the lock....before you do that you are going to want to test other cards and see if its a problem with the camera

before you take the hammer out to the card also try cleaning the contacts "_"

Low battery

Are these rechargeable batteries or off the rack batteries? If they are off the rack you would want the type designed for digital devices.

In any case I would suggest you invest in a recharger and get rechareable lithium batteries which are expensive around $20 for two, but will last. If your camera takes four batteries you will eventually want eight on hand so you have a spare set when you are out shooting. Total cost would be around $100 so compare that to the cost of all the batteries you've gone through so far and make a choice. People I have worked with on this have all gone with the rechargeable lithium batteries in the end and have not regretted it.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me with the comment box or click on Ask Me.

If you find this information helpful, please choose Fixed Ya if you wouldn't mind. I'll stick with you in any case, it just means a lot to those of us who work in the free area and not just the work for a fee options.

Thanks in Advance,
