See attached photos, do they look anything like your problem?

IF so I can tell you what is wrong and what is needed to repair it.

    The problem is called convergence.

This model employees two convergence IC chips. If you are handy and can solder it can be a do it yourself repair.

I have fixed hundreds of these sets (all brands) with this problem. I can tell you on your set where to get the parts (cost for a pair of the chips should be under 14 plus S&H from a site I use.

I also have photos of what the board they are located on looks like.

The repair involves getting at them, removing/replacing them and adjusting the set--this is done with a Sony remote--not a universal.

Understand that I never know how much skill a person has when I try to help---let me put it this way: IF you or someone you know can do the repair you are looking at under 30 dollars total for all the parts you will need. A shop will get 10 times more than that and some will not do it in the home.

Let me know how you want to proceed and if this has been helpful rate this as "very helpful" as I do this here for free.

    Regards, SD TECH

Double picture (ghosting) is caused by the convergence circuit failing or a bad antenna connection.

there is an adjustment called convergence.the convergence setup generates a crosshatch.you need to adjust the red deflection.this is a common thing when the t.v gets moved.the crosshatch or convergence button is mostly on the front control panel.consult the manual for where it is.

The convergence IC's are definitely bad. They are not a plug-in device, they solder in so this is a big job.

I am seeing doubles now. Started out on the left side.

This is likely a convergence problem. If you can solder yuo can fix this yourself. Please note that there are potentially dangerous high voltages inside the set even when unplugged. If you wish to attempt this repair yourself, please update this and confirm the model number and I'll provide additional details and instructions.

Thanks,
Dan

Double flashes

You have the red eye reduction turned on. The double flash you are seeing is to reduce the "red eyes" you sometimes see in your pictures. Consult your owners manual for turning off this feature
