I would suggest not buying a KitchenAid. I have the same problem with my ice maker. Have had nothing but problems with every KitchenAid product that I have ever owned. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product.
All of there appliances are second rate. That is "The KitchenAid Difference"

Remove the bottom kick panel , and check that the coils are clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc . Next , pull the refrig out from the wall , and remove the back panel . Check to see if the fan , cooling the compressor is working . If not , it should be replaced .

have you checked the water inlet valve in the rear of the machine? This is the piece that is directly responsible for bringing water up to the icemaker if you have water going to the door you can disconnect the icemaker line and see if there is any debris caught inside the small screen for that inlet valve side if after you do this you do still not have water or do not find any debris in the line. You would then test for the presence of power going to the top of the solenoid on the top of the valve if you did have power and there were no debris found inside the small screen you would then after performing this final test on this video would look at replaceing the inlet valve in your unit This is fairly common to happen in units once every 3-5 years click this link for the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlYCJr9dc3E if you have any further questions message me back the icemaker also does not make ice until the icemaker itself reaches 32 degrees at which time it calls for water from the water inlet valve. I await your reply Thanks Rick
