Question about Kenmore 73502 / 73504 / 73509 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

We have a Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator. The freezer gasket on one side doesn't seal sometimes. That results in lots of frost on the inside of the freezer. What can we do to keep this from happening?

You have a sealing issue I'm guessing you have an ice dispenser on the door that is letting in warm air. If not your gaskets need to be replaced

Freezer door does not close all the way

Remove the tray, pull door all the way out and check to see if it is spare. Sometimes the gears jump causeing one side to seal and the other dosent. If that is the issue, use pressure to square door

Frost buildup at back of bottom freezer department. Refrigerator should be frost free. Freezing impaired.

could be anumber of things happing, is the freezer fan spinning? if not ice will accumulate( also hamper cooling in the refrig section). perhaps a defrost issue, a bad heater or defrost thermostat could also cause, this/ may even just be the door being left open for extendedperiods of time( ie.. overnight, or hte gasket not sealing correctly) leading to a frost build up on rear panel

Frost forms on top of food in my freezer (top of refrigerator)...even inside sealed bags of items like microwave Stouffer's, etc. Sometimes up to 1/4" thick! No frost on inside of freezer though. ?????

This excess frosting can be caused by leaky door gaskets, frequent door opening, dispenser door not closing good, anywhere air can get in. Gaskets should hold a dollar bill sung all the way around both doors.

Kitchenaid bottom drawer freezer is making frost or ice flakes inside. Why?

If frost is front towards door then the seal is not sealing well . Use a hair dryer on portion which is not touching cabinet . Also check for split somewhere on gasket & if found , replace gasket . If frost on the rear wall of freezer , then a defrost problem could be starting in which the fridge section would be warming up . However , bottom freezers are known for their gaskets not to seat properly .

Freezer works but fridge does not cool..please help

Ther are several things that can cause this, one a bad evaparator fan or an defrost problem. Look on the back of the freezer wall and see if there is a lot of frost. If there is then it's a defrost problem and the part most likely is a bad termination thermostat also known as a bi-metal. If there is not a lot of frost, check to see that you have air going to the refrigerator section. If not then it could be the fan.
