Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook
wpa / tkip
Wireless networking just stops working. Have to reboot to get working gain
ipconfig release/renew does not work.
trying to reconnect manually does not.
HP support told me to turn off WPA.
Not going to have an unsecrued wireless network.
Don't like wep
Have read it was a Vista issue with WPA,
anyone seen anything like this before.
Upgraded to most recent Wnic driver, and system BIOS
Upgraded to most recent router firmware
What appears to be working is changing from TKIP to AES.
So far so good.

I have thought about mac filtering. I don't think it is as secure as some think. I am not a big fan. spoof the mac is not that hard anymore. If however I have to go back to wep then I will do a combo of wep, and mac filter.
I know no wireless is foolproff, but I want to make it as hard as possible for warhawks.
I can be surfing along and the webpages become unresponsive. then I get notifaction that I have limited network connection. I can not then aquire a proper address without rebooting.
I am using letting Vista to do the wireless
