Chain saws don't require oil changes--the bar oil is 'constant loss' from the oil tank while running--just top up the tank before and during each use. Husqvarna does recommend draining and cleaning fuel and oil tanks before storage (not sure how many folks pay attention to this). The fuel mixture is also 'constant loss', so there is nothing there that requires changing--just be sure to use fresh fuel and always shake the container before adding to the saw to make sure the saw oil is properly mixed. Hope this helps!

I do not know how to replace the chain on a husquavarna 450e chain saw and no one is willing to tell me how to do it.

Before replacing a chain saw chain you must ensure that you disconnect the sparkplug lead. Remove the chain saw cover which is located at the motor end using the tool that came with it. A spanner socket remove the 2 nuts that are the same size and that will loosen the chain arm and chain itself. Note the direction of the chain teeth as the new chain must go back in the correct manner . Now reverse the installation the same way you remove it. After replacing the chain you need to tension the blade allow about a 5 mm slack and there is a tension screw located to the side of the cover you removed. Again it's best to refer to a authorized dealer if unsure.

Your response about the electric chain saw that must be oiled manually was about a self-oiling chain saw so it did not answer my question. How to oil the saw? Use an oil can to spread the oild across the...

Your chain saw is a manually oiled model which means YOU have to pump it.YOU do not pour oil on the chain. An auto oiler model works without you doing anything, the pump is run by the engine. A manual model, you pump the oiler The Chain saw has internal oil channels or holes to apply the oil directly under the chain and into the chain bar guide. Pouring oil on the guide or chain will NEVER lubricate the chain properly. Whomever gave you such an idea is just plain wrong. I sent you the link to the owner manual and gave you a diagram. I have husquavarna chain saw s/n 95212H01984 with sticker that says 41 Air Injection. Need to buy chain and/or chain bar. Need to know the model number for this serial number. Can you provide

The saw is a 41, as standard it ran a 15" bar and chain, in the UK it ran a .325 pitch, however in the US, it ran a 3/8 pitch chain, as you should change the sprocket if fitting a new chain, i would put it on .325 if it is not already, the sprocket is part no. 530069342, the 15" chain is 501840664, and the guide bar is 508926164 these are .325 pitch 050 gauge and 64 drive links, this combination will cut much faster than the 3/8 low profile combination.

I have a craftsman gas chain saw model 358.352180. It leaks oil from underneath the saw even when not in use.

Make sure you drain the oil when storing your saw. That's because the saw is designed to supply a generous amount of oil to the chain and bar.

What type of oil is used in the remington 16" chain saw?

From page 9 of a M12510US (bar oil is SAE 30 with additives to help it adhere to the bar and chain):
FILLING OIL TANK
1. Remove oil cap.
2. Fill oil tank with SAE #30 motor oil. Note: For temperatures below 30°F, use SAE #10 oil. For temperatures above 75°F, use SAE #40 oil. 3. Replace oil cap at once. Tighten oil cap firmly for good seal. This will avoid oil seepage from tank.
4. Wipe off excess oil.
Note: It is normal for oil to seep when saw is not in use. Empty oil tank after each use to prevent seepage.

This is one of the most complete "Owners Manuals" Remington offers. If not your saw you can find your manual here:
Remington.com
http://www.desaparts.com/index.htm
  • Type "YourModelNo" into the "Model #:" window, then click search.
  • Click the YourModelNo - Remington Electric Chain Saw "View Model" link.
  • Click “View Owners Manual” or "View Illustrated Parts Breakdown" link.
